Hi Ashanae, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started highmaintenace.co in 2022 , which was initially “naegotminks”. Which was strictly just strip lashes at the time , but overtime as my vision for my business has gotten bigger, I eventually rebranded into highmaintenace, which is more than a brand it’s a movement .
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course there were some struggles, deciding to become an entrepreneur on its own is a big step . There were some things I had to figure out , you know the basics , how to start a business, where to start , vendors etc… and not to mention funding your own business out of pocket, and there’s personal problems like struggling with consistency and impostor syndrome.

At High Maintenance University, I help young women ages 17–25 transform from feeling average, overwhelmed, and stuck to stepping fully into their “baddie era” — confident, thriving, and feeling like that girl. Our brand isn’t just about bomb beauty products (though we definitely deliver on that); it’s about creating a lifestyle.
One of our signature tools is the Baddie Notebook — a space designed to give structure, encouragement, planning tools, and affirmations all in one. It’s all about helping women not just look good, but live good — with intention, confidence, and real self-love.
My mission is simple: I want to be known for helping build confidence in as many girls as I possibly can through High Maintenance University. I want every girl who connects with us to feel empowered, elevated, and unstoppable — like that girl at all times.
