Today we’d like to introduce you to Ava Nuich.
Hi Ava, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I threw myself into everything I could: sports, music, dance, and more… hoping I’d find something that truly felt like “me.” But no matter how hard I tried, I never seemed to find my place.
It always felt drilled into my town’s upbringing that in order to fit in, you had to be a part of a classic extracurricular in order to be socially accepted
It was frustrating, constantly feeling like I was just bouncing from one thing to the next without ever truly belonging or excelling. It was as if I was searching for something that didn’t quite exist, leaving me feeling lost and unsure of where I fit in.
In high school, I often isolated myself as a way to cope with the confusion and frustration of not feeling like I fit in. But in one last attempt to push myself out of that shell, I tried something completely out of character: improv comedy.
It seemed like an obscure choice at the time, but somehow, it clicked. I found myself laughing, connecting with others, and discovering a side of me I didn’t even know existed. Performing original sketches and improv became a surprising source of joy and belonging, something I never expected but ended up loving more than anything else I’d tried before.
Through the arts, I met some of my closest friends, and it completely shifted my perspective. What started as an individual journey turned into something much more powerful… collaboration!!!
Working together on creative projects opened my eyes to the magic of teamwork, connection, and shared passion.
It was through these experiences that I realized how much more fulfilling it is to create with others rather than isolating myself. The friendships I formed through art became the foundation of a new, more vibrant way of engaging with the world.
Comedy opened the door for me to explore other forms of expression, and one of the most exciting discoveries was film. What started as a love for improv and humor led me to the world of storytelling through visuals, and I quickly developed a passion for producing.
The process of bringing ideas to life on screen, collaborating with others, and helping to shape someone else’s vision is incredibly fulfilling. Now, I’m deeply invested in working with creative teams to produce meaningful, impactful work that reflects a shared passion for storytelling.
I’m currently studying Film and TV Production at SCAD, and I absolutely love it. The program has given me the tools to dive deeper into the world of storytelling, and I’m constantly inspired by the opportunities to collaborate with other passionate creatives. Whether it’s working on set, brainstorming ideas, or learning the technical aspects, every project feels like a chance to grow and connect.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in producing and 1st Assistant Directing for film, television, and music video projects, with a strong focus on collaboration, clear communication, and efficient scheduling. As a producer and AD, I thrive in high-pressure environments and love bringing creative visions to life through strong organization and attention to detail. Outside of set, I co-run Sick Tunes, an independent music zine and multimedia platform with Iviannah Ramirez, where we interview artists and spotlight emerging talent. What started as a zine has expanded into producing music videos and creating visual content that celebrates the artists we feature.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future, I hope to continue expanding my work in music video production, collaborating closely with artists to create visuals that elevate their sound and storytelling. I’m especially passionate about the intersection of music and film, and I want to keep exploring new ways to bring that to life. I’m also interested in diving into the world of advertising and short-form content. Whether it’s branded pieces, social campaigns, or narrative-driven shorts. I’m drawn to the creative challenges of telling compelling stories in a condensed format and look forward to experimenting more in that space.
