Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Jameson.
Hi Claire , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a college student at Savannah College of Art & Design living in Savannah as well as a content creator, singer, model & actress. I started out a child being very interested in art & music. When I was 12 years old I was cast in my first off broadway musical in NYC tiled Madeline’s Christmas and I played Simone, one of the 12 little girls. I then got a small part as a boarding school girl in the movie The Greatest Showman. After that my mom saw a commercial for a music competition on PBS and she submitted me for it. It was called the Celebration of Music and it was hosted by Ethan Bortnick. I got picked for the show and ended up winning. During high school I started posting on Tiktok and Instagram. My instagram blew up my senior year in high school after I posted my homecoming dance pictures and I began modeling and working with brands. Now I attend SCAD where I’m getting a BFA in Acting and I continue working a a content creator, singer, model & actress.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In this business you’re always dealing with a lot of rejection and that can be difficult and draining. And with social media comes hate. When I first started posting on TikTok right after I turned 16 during the pandemic I was shocked at the hate comments that were pouring in. I wasn’t used to that and at that time TikTok didn’t really do anything about it. It’s why when my instagram blew up I spent more time on that platform where it wasn’t as bad. The rejection can be difficult but you just have to tell your self it’s redirection. I’ve gone through disappointments and then sometimes something even better comes along. You have to remind yourself it’s not rejection it’s redirection.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m most known for my content creation on Instagram. But I sing, play guitar, write songs model and I’m also very interested in art. You can check out my website at itsclairejameson.com to find out more. I think I’m most proud of how I built up my social media by myself at such a young age and I was able to save money so young. I go to SCAD for free using the post 911 GI Bill so I have no loans or college debt. Now when I graduate from SCAD I will have a nest egg that most 21 year olds don’t have. I worked incredibly hard for this. I was not out partying with friends, taking trips and spending money.. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I work incredibly hard and it’s paid off for me. I’m thankful to my supporters and my fans who have helped me achieve this.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think posting on social media is always a risk. You have to just not care what people think. There’s always going to be haters or people who think you’re cringy but you can’t let that stop you, Also just choosing Acting as a Major is incredibly risky. It’s not a “safe” Major. However, I chose to follow my dream and take a risk! The arts in general is always a risk. SCAD is full of students who are risk takers.
