Check Out Jerrika Hinton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerrika Hinton.

Hi Jerrika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into beauty and entrepreneurship started with a genuine love for helping people feel good about themselves. I’ve always been drawn to aesthetics, not just in terms of lashes or skincare, but in creating peaceful, beautiful experiences.

I spent 5 years working at The Lash Lounge, and it was a huge part of my foundation. That’s where I really built my skills, grew my confidence, and connected with so many amazing clients. When the salon unexpectedly shut down, it forced me to make a choice: either start over somewhere else or finally take the leap and build something of my own.

That moment pushed me into full entrepreneurship. I didn’t have it all figured out, but I trusted that there was space for me. I opened my solo suite and began creating the kind of experience I always envisioned—intentional, calm, and curated.

Now, I run my suite full time and I’ve started branching into content creation and blogging. I’m building something that feels aligned with who I am, not just as a service provider, but as a storyteller too. It’s still unfolding, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge has taught me something. Leaving the security of a commission-based salon and stepping into full independence meant I had to quickly learn how to run a business. Not just do the work I love, but handle everything behind the scenes too.

Adjusting to the ups and downs, staying motivated, and trusting my vision during uncertain moments has been a process. But I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’ve learned to give myself grace while still pushing forward.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a licensed esthetician and lash artist, and I specialize in lash extensions and enhancing natural beauty in a clean, soft, and intentional way. I run my own studio, J Hinton Esthetics, where I focus on creating a peaceful, personalized experience for each client.

I think what sets me apart is the atmosphere I’ve created. My space feels calm, curated, and private. I’m not just rushing through appointments; I really try to make every visit feel like self-care. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built this on my own, from the ground up, and that clients trust me not just with their lashes, but with their time and energy too.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Definitely. I’ve had a lot of support along the way. My clients have played a huge role in my growth. Some of them have followed me through different phases of my career, and that loyalty means everything. I’ve also had friends and family who encouraged me when I wasn’t sure if I could really do this on my own.

In particular, I have to give credit to my parents: my mom, my dad and my stepmom. They’ve always been there to bounce ideas off of, and they’ve supported me in ways that kept me grounded through all the ups and downs. Even just having people believe in me when I was still figuring things out gave me the confidence to keep going.
