Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Williams.
Hi Robert, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from Louisiana, and my journey started in 2018. At first, it was a creative outlet something that gave me a way to express emotion and capture the rawness of everyday life. Overtime, I fell in love with the craft and dedicated myself to learning everything I could, from lighting to composition to storytelling through imagery.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. It’s definitely been a journey with its share of bumps. In the beginning I didn’t have access to the best gear, resources or connections just a vision and drive. I had to learn everything the hard way, through trial and error. It was times I doubted myself, times I felt overlooked especially in spaces where gatekeeping is real.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a portrait photographer with a strong focus on creating through imagery. I specialize in capturing raw emotion, strong energy, a certain realness that makes my subject stand out. Whether I’m shooting conceptual portraits, headshots I approach every project with intention. What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come just off consistency and self education. What sets me apart is the way I connect with people I shoot. I just don’t take photos I make people feel seen.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
To me, risk taking is necessary if you want to grow especially as a creative. Playing it safe never leads to anything unforgettable. Risk isn’t just about jumping it’s about trusting that even if you fall, you’ll learn how to land stronger. I’ve learned that if you’re not willing to take risk, you’ll stay stuck in the same place.
