Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Mojica-Taylor.
Hi Destiny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve loved telling stories and bringing ideas to life for as long as I can remember. I was that kid who went all in on an idea, whether it was ‘suing’ my grandparents for TV time (I literally mailed them a subpoena) or helping my best friend launch her rap career in high school. I was her manager, and trust me, we were convinced we were going to make it big.
That love for creating and connecting never really left. It just evolved. As I got older, I realized storytelling wasn’t just fun, it was powerful. It could inspire people, build trust, and move entire communities. That’s what drew me to marketing.
Professionally, I started my career in working with small businesses, where I helped build strategies and campaigns from the ground up. Then I moved into corporate marketing, where I launched an organization’s first formal marketing department at an oil company. It was an incredible learning experience that taught me how to build structure, communicate across teams, and make strategy work in the real world.
But my heart has always been with people and community. So I eventually stepped out on my own and launched my fractional marketing consultancy. Now, I get to help under-resourced teams, start-ups, and purpose-driven brands tell their stories in a way that’s clear, authentic, and impactful.
Travel has shaped a lot of how I see the world too. Whether it’s mission trips or vacations, I’ve seen how storytelling breaks down walls and builds bridges. It’s universal. And that’s really at the core of what I do, using story to create meaningful connection.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I’m grateful for that. Every season has stretched me in ways I didn’t expect.
When I transitioned from corporate to running my own business, I went from having structure and resources to having to build everything myself, the systems, the strategy, & the confidence. There were moments where I questioned if I was crazy for not running back to stability to follow this vision that only I could really see.
On a personal level, learning to trust my voice and my timing has been a big part of the journey. Entrepreneurship can be isolating at times, especially when you’re building something new and it doesn’t look like everyone else’s path. I had to learn to quiet the noise of comparison and lean into faith, creativity, and community.
There have been seasons of uncertainty, financially, mentally, emotionally, but those are the moments that also built the strongest foundation in me. They forced me to grow as a leader, a creative, and a woman.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been real, stretching, and ultimately, worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Marketing Mage is my love letter to under-resourced teams, community builders, and purpose-driven brands who have powerful stories but don’t always know how to tell them clearly. I created it because I believe marketing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or out of reach; it can feel intentional, creative, and full of magic when it’s done right.
What I do is help founders and organizations build clarity and connection through storytelling and strategy. I specialize in brand strategy, marketing campaigns, and fractional marketing support, which basically means I partner with brands that may not have a full marketing team but still want strategy and execution that’s smart, structured, and soulful.
What sets The Marketing Mage apart is the way I approach marketing. I don’t just focus on clicks or content for content’s sake. I help businesses uncover their voice, map their customer journey, and design marketing systems that actually work for who they are and the communities they serve. It’s part strategy, part storytelling, part magic.
I’m really proud of how this brand is growing, not just in projects and clients, but in the impact it’s making. From launching local campaigns to helping other entrepreneurs tell stories that move people to action, it’s been beautiful to see the ripple effects.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about The Marketing Mage, it’s this: your story matters. And with the right clarity, strategy, and a little creative spark, it can open doors you didn’t even know existed.”
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely! I wouldn’t be here without my people and love to give them their flowers! My journey has been paved with so many hands, hearts, and voices that poured into me at the right time.
First and foremost, my husband has been my biggest cheerleader. He’s believed in me even on the days when I doubted myself and reminded me to keep going when the road felt uncertain. My family has also been a constant source of encouragement, giving me the space to dream a little bigger.
I’ve also been blessed with incredible mentors and community builders who’ve opened doors, shared wisdom, and reminded me of my value. One person who’s had an especially big impact is Alaina Meyer at scDataCom. She’s been more than just a mentor, she’s been a true advocate. From the very beginning of my career, she’s opened doors, shared hard-earned wisdom, and reminded me to take up space even when I doubted myself.
And then there are my clients, who trusted me with their stories and their vision. Every single partnership has sharpened me, stretched me, and affirmed why I do what I do.
The truth is, The Marketing Mage was never built alone. It’s been shaped by a village of people who saw something in me and helped me see it too.
