Meet Mohamed And Naima of Illozoo | the visual communication agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mohamed And Naima.

Hi Mohamed and Naima, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Naima a Londoner, moved from London to settle in Savannah in 2005, leaving her career as a real estate/letting agent behind. Mo, originally from Lebanon, moved to Savannah in 1997 after living in Montreal for 7 years. We both call Savannah home. Our younger children go to school here and our older children are continuing their higher education in Houston.
Our agency Illozoo was established in Savannah, 13 years ago in 2012. It is now a large operation with additional 5 offices worldwide (Milan, London, Beijing, NYC and Paris), representing 220 artists (Illustrators, designers, animators and motion designers) With the support of our international agents and extensive network, we’ve successfully delivered nearly 5,000 projects across a wide range of industries, including advertising campaigns, branding, technology, entertainment design, film, world expos, video games, visual development, publishing, web content and editorial content.

We connect our artists with clients and manage the workflow, logistics, creative process and communication. It’s a 24/7 operation, constantly via phone and emails connecting potential art buyers and art directors with our US based and international artists, securing projects, networking and marketing their talents.

We love it! not just the business side, but for the connections and friendships we established with our talented artists from around the world. When we travel, we meet them and connect with them and learn so much about their cultures, lifestyles and creativity.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Maintaining a work-life balance is not easy. Because of the nature of our business, constantly checking our phones for potential request, that could come at any moment, since our clients are not only US based but from all over the world, mostly the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Australia and China.
The illustration/visual communication world is fast paced and competitive, so we need to keep up with the requests and make sure we reach out to our artists to connect them with the art buyers on time, or to send our recommendations to the clients when asked, and to be certain we are selecting the right match for their style needs. This could happen at any moment, early mornings, on weekends and late at night. We also have to negotiate fees and answers any questions by both the clients and the artists.
