Hi Ambria, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Coopers Customs is a love story turned into a business.
Coopers Customs was formed in 2019 when the Covid-19 pandemic was in its early stages. Founded by myself, Ambria Cooper and my late husband, Joshua Cooper.
Throughout our relationship we were known to just get up and go at any given time we had available! Traveling was just our thing! While on vacations we would often see couples in matching t-shirts and I would say “babe, that’s so cute! I need to learn how to make shirts!”. So, on our way back from TN I ordered a Cricut and materials then the next day it arrived! We had so much fun learning how to make shirts and people began to request them so we figured, why not!? It started with shirts, cups then door signs, noodle boards and so much more. When I started hearing about laser machines I just knew I had to have one. If you knew Josh you know he quickly told me if you want it, get it! I declined getting it at that moment because we were speaking of moving and starting a family together.
We did in fact move and conceived as planned. However, life took an unexpected turn and I lost my husband. My entire life was turned upside down and I certainly took time off. After taking the time I felt that I needed, I continued with Coopers Customs and invested in my first laser because I could always hear him saying “Keep going wife, finish what we started!”
So, here I am today – 4 lasers later still making our dream come true on a bigger level with our busy toddler, Heaven who is so eager to help in any way that she can. I pray that this business continues to flourish and she takes it over one day!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say it has been pretty smooth. With anything, especially in business there will always be struggles but for me it was more so learning the machines and testing materials.
We’ve been impressed with Coopers Customs, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Coopers Customs is a laser engraving business that specializes in designing and crafting personalized gifts or decorations for various celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, baby showers, closing gifts and corporate events.
Combining creativity, high-quality materials, and attention to detail we create a memorable last impression to your guests, clients and/or friends.
Over the last year, our primary focus has shifted to working with realtors, event planners and small businesses for their closing gifts, merch “swag”, signage and more.
What sets us apart from others is the research that has gone into our products. I never buy one piece of material and move forward with it. I purchase multiple pieces from different vendors, test them with my lasers and every day usage to ensure I’m providing a quality product. I’d rather put my time and money into testing than someone purchase an item that isn’t worth it. I always put myself in the buyers shoes.
Brand wise, what I’m most proud of is simply never giving up regardless of hardships that have come along the way and standing by what I’m offering while providing great customer service.
I’d want the readers to know that when you put your trust and hard earned money into Coopers Customs that you’re not only supporting a family dream but know that I’m paying attention to every detail because at the end of the day, I want us all to win and grow.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I honestly don’t believe in luck. I believe in blessings, timing and what’s meant for me will always find its way to me. In my business, every opportunity and every challenge has served a purpose. The good moments feel like confirmation I need and the harder ones have pushed me to grow, adjust and stay aligned with my goals. So instead of luck I credit faith, consistency and trusting the process.
