Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Brown.
Hi Corinne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Corinne Brown, and I am the Founder and CEO of Pivotal Moments ABA, based in Ellabell, Georgia. We proudly serve Savannah and the surrounding Southeast Georgia communities. Our mission is to ensure that individuals in underserved areas have access to high-quality ABA services delivered by well-trained professionals while also giving back to the communities we serve and becoming a trusted resource families can rely on.
My journey to becoming a small business owner has been shaped by a variety of meaningful life and professional experiences. It began in 2005 while working with underprivileged children at The Fresh Air Home on Tybee Island. From 2005 to 2012, I served in several roles within the organization, gaining experience working with children ages 4–12, developing leadership skills, training new staff members, and managing schedules for more than 25 counselors. This experience provided an invaluable foundation for my future in leadership and service.
After graduating college in 2012, I began teaching students with severe emotional and behavioral disorders in Cobb County, Georgia. During this time, I had the privilege of leading the school-wide PBIS incentive program for two years. This role further developed my understanding of behavior support, special education, leadership, and the foundational principles that would later guide my work in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
By 2018, after several years working in special education across a variety of settings, I transitioned into the field of ABA. I returned to school to complete an Applied Behavior Analysis certificate alongside my Master’s degree in Special Education. At the same time, I left the classroom to work directly in the ABA field as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in order to gain the hands-on fieldwork experience required to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I passed the BCBA examination in 2020 and officially began practicing as a BCBA. In May 2021, I stepped back into a leadership role, overseeing a regional leadership team that supported the South, Southeast, and Middle Georgia regions. This opportunity allowed me to further develop my skills in clinical leadership, mentorship, operational management, and staff development.
In August 2024, as both a new mother and an experienced ABA professional with clear values and standards for ethical, high-quality care, I made the decision to step away from regional leadership to pursue additional direct clinical BCBA opportunities and focus more intentionally on the type of impact I wanted to make in the field.
After extensive planning, research, and preparation, I officially announced the opening of Pivotal Moments ABA in April 2025. By June 2025, our first clients and RBTs had joined the organization, and the company was off to a strong start. Since inception, the business has grown to include 20 employees, 25 clients, a full-time administrative assistant, a Training Coordinator/Lead RBT, and a Compliance Auditor/Lead RBT. Our infrastructure continues to evolve to meet the needs of our clients, employees, and community.
Despite our growth, our focus remains unchanged: to provide exceptional services to underserved communities, invest heavily in the training and development of our professionals, and give back whenever possible.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While the journey of building a small business has included challenges — such as navigating the legal complexities of owning a business, learning the intricacies of insurance claims management, and making difficult personnel decisions to uphold the company’s values — the overall transition into entrepreneurship has been both rewarding and successful.
Some of the most challenging aspects of leadership have come from balancing compassion with accountability. As a leader, it is essential to make thoughtful and sometimes difficult decisions to ensure that both the families we serve and our staff are supported, while also maintaining the high standards and expectations established within our company policies and culture.
As you know, we’re big fans of Pivotal Moments ABA. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Pivotal Moments provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services for individuals with autism and related developmental needs, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed, ethical, and family-centered care. Our services are designed to help clients build meaningful life skills, increase independence, improve communication and social interaction, and reduce behaviors that interfere with daily functioning. Services are delivered in the client’s natural environment whenever possible, including the home, community, and other real-world settings where learning is most meaningful and effective.
ABA therapy is a science-based approach focused on understanding behavior and teaching functional skills through individualized treatment plans, data collection, reinforcement strategies, and ongoing assessment. Our clinical team uses evidence-based interventions tailored to each client’s strengths, needs, and goals while maintaining compliance with BACB ethical standards and state Medicaid requirements.
Pivotal Moments ABA is committed to delivering high-quality, trauma-informed ABA therapy to underserved communities in the natural environment, empowering individuals with autism to achieve independence and dignity through meaningful, measurable change.
Our vision is to create a future where every family in Southeast Georgia has access to compassionate, trauma-informed ABA services delivered with consistency, dignity, and clinical excellence. Through collaborative care, ongoing staff development, and community engagement, Pivotal Moments strives to be both a trusted resource for families and the premier employer for ABA professionals dedicated to meaningful, measurable outcomes
The thing I am proudest of is the high quality of services we provide due to the high standards and training systems our employees are held to. Most of our referrals are word of mouth referrals, indicating we are well liked and referred by our families. This speaks volumes regarding our service delivery satisfaction, in my opinion.
What matters most to you?
As a professional, my highest priority is ensuring that families receive functional, meaningful, and socially valid ABA services that create measurable improvements in their daily lives. I believe that if our services are not positively impacting the quality of life of the entire family unit, then we are not fully accomplishing our purpose. Meaningful, lasting change for both the individual and their family is the ultimate goal of the services we provide.
On a personal level, the values that guide my life are the same values that guide my leadership and clinical approach: honesty, integrity, compassion, and treating every individual with dignity and respect.
