Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Headrick.
Hi Amy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started with a trip to Washington State to hike at Olympic National Park. While I was there, I stopped at a small store to grab some headache medicine. My daughter went in first while I stayed in the car with the baby, but she came back out almost immediately and said, “Mom, you’re going to want to check this place out.”
So we got the baby out and headed inside. The moment you walked through the door, you could feel it—welcoming, calm, and intentional. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and before I knew it, I was already filling my cart. When I made my way to the medicine aisle, I noticed something surprising: there was no Tylenol or ibuprofen—everything was herbal. Natural remedies lined the shelves. I loved it.
We picked up several tinctures, an all-natural headache remedy, and then wandered over to the juice bar while browsing their organic groceries. The entire experience stuck with me. I remember thinking how amazing it would be to bring something like this to the Savannah/Pooler area. At the time, though, working full-time, it didn’t feel possible.
After returning home from that unforgettable trip, I was invited to the grand opening of a dear friend’s new business. Shannon and I have been friends for nearly 17 years, so there was no way I was missing her mobile bookstore launch. After the event, we reconnected over our shared love of books and tea, catching up on the time life had put between us. As it often goes, friendships may drift, but the real ones always find their way back.
One afternoon, while sitting together with tea in hand, I shared my story about Washington and my dream of opening something similar locally. I told her it just wasn’t realistic for me right now with a full-time job. She looked at me and said, “Why don’t you do a mobile shop like me?”
That simple question changed everything.
From that moment on, things moved quickly. I found the perfect trailer, sourced products that aligned with my standards, and began building what is now Rooted In Faith Mobile Apothecary. We officially launched in July of 2025, turning what once felt like a distant idea into a tangible reality. The name reflects both my personal faith and my belief that God placed natural tools here for our bodies to heal and restore.
With a background in fire and EMS, helping people has always been at the core of who I am—this is simply another way to serve. Today, I’m also pursuing certification as a naturopathic practitioner, and you can find me at local markets and festivals throughout the area. What started as a simple moment on a trip has become a calling—to serve, educate, and help others rediscover the healing found in nature.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is the setup. I carry a wide range of carefully handpicked items, many of which are temperature-sensitive and can’t remain in the trailer full-time. Because of that, every event requires a full setup and breakdown—transporting, arranging, and then packing everything back up to store at home. It’s a labor of love, but also an ongoing learning process. I’m constantly looking for ways to improve and streamline both my setup and breakdown so I can better serve my customers while protecting the quality of my products.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I became a firefighter in 2009 and an EMT in 2016, but my desire to help people started long before that. I volunteered with the American Red Cross, providing disaster relief for both large- and small-scale emergencies. Service has always been at the core of who I am.
Throughout my career in fire and EMS, I’ve continued to give back by working with several nonprofits, specializing in event coordination and fundraising. Those experiences have shaped not only my skill set, but also my approach to serving others. Today, I bring that same dedication and purpose into my mobile apothecary, combining my background in emergency services with a passion for natural wellness to better support my community.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing most people may not realize about me is that I’m also a grandmother to six amazing grandkids. Two of them have medical and special needs, which deeply shaped my journey long before Rooted In Faith Apothecary ever existed. Because of that, our family began exploring natural wellness support, holistic practices, and alternative remedies years ago out of a desire to support their overall well-being in every way we could. That personal experience is a huge part of the heart behind what I do today — not just creating a business, but building something rooted in care, education, compassion, and a genuine passion for helping others.
