Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Cope.
Hi Stephen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Im a Savannah/Tybee native and
My career in the Transportation business started due to after 20yrs in the Collision Center & Insurance appraisal business I was ready for a change.I lived on Tybee Island and wanted to enjoy it!
I had always enjoyed having a career where I met a lot of people and spent my days on the road,so
I joined my friends with Breezy Riders Taxi Service on Tybee.I thought it would be a great way supplement some income at first but then immediately fell in love with everything that came along with the fast pace, fun but still laid back island service that Breezy Riders provides.12 years later and I still love to drive Breezy!
During the years of driving a taxi on Tybee,I watched the Island get more popular and busier than ever with large groups, such as Bachelorette,Bachelor parties,Proms,Tours,Boat Charters ect….
Everyone wanted to visit Tybee & Savannah.I wanted to be the one who could make both easily accessible.
The TybeeNightTrain idea begins!
I started researching and decided it was time for me to offer a Bus Service bringing people to and from Tybee.Thought if I was going to offer a bus service,it might aswell be a Limo Party Bus where everyone could have a great time traveling to and from the island.
Little did I know what I was starting!!
After multiple flights to Florida and a long hunt for the right bus,I finally found a bus that I could build into what I had envisioned.
Then the TybeeNightTrain bus build begins.
Lots of long days and long nights. Meanwhile I worked on the State permits for 8 months along with everything else to start the LLC.
Then I finished the bus build, went through a series of State inspections and received my permitting to begin doing business. After a year of start up,TybeeNightTrain was ready to ride!
I’m currently in my 4th year of doing business and wow, what an adventure it has been!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ha!
Not exactly smooth.I had a lot to learn!
If it was easy it probably wouldn’t be worth it all!
Lots of ups.Lots of downs. At first it feels like everything is working against you.One of the hardest things was to learn how to be patient and realize things take time and cant expect others to be on your time line always.I had to learn how to focus on the big picture and work through anything that is thrown at you!I just had to remember to have fun with everything and keep looking towards my goals!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Love be a part of people’s special occasions. My satisfaction comes from making their experience fun and something they can look back on as a rememberable time!
