Exploring Life & Business with Savannah Sharks of Savannah Sharks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Sharks.

Hi Savannah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As we head into our 16th season, the heart behind Savannah Sharks has always been our people. Our staff brings unique gifts, energy, and passion that help make Sharks feel like a second home for so many kids. While we’re proud of the athletes we develop, our mission has always been bigger than cheerleading. We strive to help build confidence, character, resilience, and strong friendships. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, and we’re honored to be part of that village for hundreds of families 🙂

Over the years, we’ve grown from a small program into a thriving community, but our focus remains the same: helping kids become the best version of themselves—both on and off the mat. As our gym has grown, our focus has notably been in becoming a more family-oriented program. At Sharks, we offer a high-quality experience in cheerleading, without asking families to overextend- Our athletes can experience Allstar cheerleading while still playing school sports and having time for family and other activities… Our program is flexible- offering full year cheerleading options beginning in summertime and half year options that begin in November. We welcome individuals of all experience levels and backgrounds, creating a positive environment where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. It is our mission to teach leadership, intergrity, and confidence through cheerleading. Values that will remain important and necessary through every stage of life 🙂

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been many obstacles and challenges throughout the years, but we accredit facing adversity to how we have built success! A belief we try and instill into each and every one of our athletes is that through every obstacle, there is an opportunity for growth.

A particular memory that stands out for us is a youth-aged team we had trained in a previous year that had earned the great opportunity to compete at the The Summit Nationals- which is the premier end-of-season championship for Allstar cheerleading teams from all around the globe. This team had worked so hard the entire season, but experienced a stunt-fall at the Summit, moving their status from 2nd place to dead last at out of 45 teams. The loss was devastating- it was a true test to each athlete’s resilience.

Over the next two years, that same group of athletes and parents came together with renewed determination, dedicating themselves to even harder work and growth. They refused to let a single setback define their characters. Just two seasons later- they WON the Summit Championship in their division and won exciting accolades like a banner, rings, and more.

Those same kids a few years later became our FIRST team to attend the Cheerleading Worlds– the “Superbowl” of all cheerleading 🙂

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
There is something for every age and skill level at Savannah Sharks. We offer Toddler Playdates every Friday (and Mondays from Fall-Spring) beginning with Crawlers up to Age 5, a Mother’s Morning Out program “Sharkie School” for ages 2-5, birthday parties up to age 8, and tumbling and cheerleading beginning as young as 3.5. Our classes and teams are beginner through advanced. Many of our athletes have spent their formative years in the gym and have gone on to accomplish remarkable achievements, building on the training and values they learned at Sharks- we are so proud to say that our cheerleaders have gone on to cheer at reputable programs like the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern, Clemson, Piedmont University, the University of South Carolina.. and more!

Something special about our program is that we offer our very own Shark Van-we have multiple school van pick ups that help make it easy and CONVENIENT to attend a tumbling class. Our after-school Shark van picks up our athletes after school and brings them to our facility on 1686 E President St. We like to think of our classes as the “Pink Theory” for kids. It is great for learning coordination and building strength that benefits athletes in ALL sports. This fall we will service Hancock, Blessed Sacrament, May Howard, Savannah Christian, St. Peters, St Andrews, St. James, Coastal Middle School, Calvary, Marshpoint, Savannah Country Day School, Jacob G Smith School & Garrison. We are always open to adding new schools to our Shark Van program!

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your game to the next level, we’re dedicated to helping every athlete grow and succeed. We want our families to know that we are dedicated to enhancing athleticism, boosting confidence, and creating an environment that is built for balance, but also designed for growth.
