Check Out Shannon Stevens Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Stevens.

Hi Shannon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Shannon Stevens but everyone knows me as the rapper Queen Halo. Born and raised in Baltimore city. My passion is writing but I’m the jack of all trades I write, rap.  I’m a baker, a cook, a hairstylist and the list goes on.

My passion for writing poetry took off in my middle school days and really progressed during my high-school days. I entered multiple writing contests and won scholarships for college. Always been dedicated to school but over the years of facing so many challenges such as mental and physical abuse, I started to stray away from my passion.

With therapy the love of my kids and the drive to pick up the pen. I am back doing what I love along with all my other passion. It wasn’t easy but it was so worth it. I thank God for my strength and will!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Even through many ups and downs in life, I turn my pain into passion. I turn to writing and cooking to help me get through a lot of dark times in my life.

I at one time turned to drugs to cope with the pain, it was really rough for me at one point in time. Music became my shoulder to lean on when I felt my worst. Many days I felt like I wasn’t good enough and lacked self-confidence.

I lost a lot of things most importantly time with the wrong people but through each battle, I overcame a lot of obstacles, I call myself the woman with nine lives, and I was put in many situations where I almost lost my life but God said it was not my time!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a writer and rapper Queen Halo, I call myself the Maya Angelou of rap! I’m so proud that through everything that was thrown my way in life, I never lost my passion to continue to fight and pick right back off where I left off.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being able to stress out but put everything back on track.

To successfully do everything and still care for my two amazing girls. It amazes me how strong I am even when I feel weak, and how I can create new things day after day truly a blessing.
