Inspiring Conversations with Ashleigh Frost of Team Elite Bodies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Frost.

Hi Ashleigh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a 33 year old South African immigrant to the US (immigrated to be with my now US hubby in March 2019). We met online in May 2017, met in person for the first time in September that year, and well, the rest is history.

I was born in the North-west province in South Africa in a little mining town called Rustenburg. I spent most of my life in Pretoria, Gauteng though. I’m a lover of Jesus, animals, my daily almond milk coffee and anything that makes me laugh from the belly. I am an online health & wellness coach and my passion is helping women find their self-worth, realise their value and overcome their past hurts and self-limiting beliefs through health and wellness. I am also an artist, graphic designer and newbie photographer, I love being able to create things and use my imagination to get creative. If I’m not creating at least one thing a week I feel empty and bored.

I love fashion and beautiful clothes and have combined my love for living healthy with looking and feeling good into my personal brand called Fit ‘n Fab Blog.

I wasn’t always confident, strong and independent though. I spent my school years struggling with severely low self-esteem, being bullied and struggling with multiple eating disorders and self-harming. I also dealt with emotional and physically abusive relationships, been through a divorce at the age of 28 and it was only when I realised I wanted more for myself and that no one was coming to save me, was I able to pull myself out of the dark pits of those struggles and took back control of my self-worth, self-belief and confidence.

It took years of self-discovery and setting boundaries for myself to get to where I am today. I went from being a shy, scared disordered eating and self-harming young teen to a 3 x Pro Bikini Champion, 2 x cover model and multiple editorial spreads in health & fitness magazines, living my dream life with the man of my dreams.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in life is a linear event. There have been too many setbacks and obstacles to count. As mentioned in the previous question, I had to overcome so many self-sabotaging behaviours that kept me stuck in a downward spiral.

I would say the biggest obstacle was my own mindset and limiting beliefs about myself, my abilities and my worth. Once I started paying attention to that, the things I allowed and attracted started to change. Sure we can’t take responsibility for other people treating us badly, that’s theirs to own, but we CAN respond to how we deal with it and once I learned that, everything shifted.

The way I see it is that failure and setbacks are not the opposite of success in your life (however which way you define success for yourself), they are an INTEGRAL part of the process and make each victory that much sweeter.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My husband and I created a coaching team called team Elite Bodies, together we have an undeniable passion for health & fitness. We love to help everyone in all walks of their wellness journey from lifestyle changes straight to stage prep. where we work with everyone from all walks of life with all kinds of goals.

Between the two of us, we have a combined professional experience of 20 years across the board. My husband, Beau, was a former Pro Baseball player and has been active pretty much his entire life! He made it into the Pro arena for 8 years and then turned to coaching before he followed his passion for medicine and completed his Masters degree of Medical Science and is now a PA-C. All while also pursuing his journey to the stage and turning Pro with the WBFF in 2020, with a quick turn around in 2021 to grab the Male Fitness Model Champion title.

I spent my entire school career in athletics and sport and I’m also a former Latin & Ballroom dancer. I turned Pro with the WBFF in 2013 and have, to date, done 22 shows, 11 of which have been pro line ups, with 3 Pro title wins in the WBFF bikini open line up, making me 3 x WBFF Miss Bikini USA.

We offer lifestyle, transformation and stage prep as well as stage posing coaching for anyone interested in competing with the organization we are titleholders for. The beauty of this is that we can work with anyone anywhere in the world because we can coach you completely remotely using a third-party app and Zoom.

Using Beau’s medical knowledge as well as his years of being a professional athlete himself alongside Ashleigh’s passion and experience of working with women for the last 7+ years, we are confident that we will help you reach your health & fitness goals, whatever they may be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe in order to be successful you need 3 things (in this order):
1. Passion
2. Grit
3. Luck

While the first two play the biggest role in my opinion, luck will always come into play to some degree. There’s a reason there’s a saying “at the right place at the right time”, sometimes people get lucky and get “noticed” (in all industries) and their career takes off because they were at the right place at the right time. Do I believe you can get lucky without the first 2 and still be successful? No, I don’t. Passion and grit far outweigh luck. Passion is what keeps you going even when things aren’t going your way because you simply love what you do and grit is what helps you get up after every failure and try again. Without those two, luck isn’t going to help you much.

I believe I’ve been lucky (and blessed) to be able to experience certain things in my life because of what I do, meeting the right people to make things happen, etc, but I also believe had it not been for some effort and hard work, those things never would have happened.
