Inspiring Conversations with Elizabeth Kennedy of Sweet Pea’s Baked Goods

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Kennedy.

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always enjoyed being in the kitchen since I was little. I can remember when I was a little girl I was in the kitchen with either my parents or my grandmother. We would make all sorts of things like my dad’s homemade BBQ sauce, cook cookies with my grandmother, and help my mom get dinner ready for the night. I am so thankful for them.

They have made me who I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Sweet Pea’s has been a smooth road for the most part. There have been times in my business when I have struggled to make an order, and I have had to start over which has been stressful.

I have learned that my business will not always be perfect. There will be many errors and mistakes made along the way, but I have learned to grow from my struggles and to do the best that I can do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sweet Pea’s Baked Goods?
Sweet Pea’s Baked Goods is a small business located in Glennville, GA. I specialize in birthday cakes for special occasions, wedding cakes, anniversary cakes, decorative cookies, cupcakes, and so much more. The business is flexible to meet the needs of my customers and displays excellent hospitality.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be helping my grandma or my dad in the kitchen. I have always had a desire to cook. My grandma taught me so many things from baking cookies and cakes to all types of desserts when I was young. My dad taught me how to make his homemade BBQ sauce and spaghetti sauce.

As I got older, I wanted to branch out into baking on my own. I created the business Sweet Pea’s Baked Goods. The name Sweet Pea came from my grandma. Her nickname for me was Sweet Pea. I knew right away that was going to be the name for my business.
