Today we’d like to introduce you to Kastin Caldwell.
Hi Kastin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t set out thinking I’d become a photographer. It started more as a creative outlet than a career. In 2019, my husband, who was just my boyfriend at the time, gifted me my first camera for my birthday, and that’s really where everything began. What started as simply learning that camera and taking photos for fun quickly turned into something more as friends and family began asking me to capture moments for them.
As I kept going, I realized how much I loved not just taking photos, but telling people’s stories and freezing seasons of life they’d never get back. I also fell in love with capturing God’s beauty through His creation. Photography has become more than a job. It is a platform for me to love others. As I’m looking through my lens, I get the opportunity to witness all the things that God says are good. A family’s laughter. A mother’s warm embrace. The excitement of an engaged couple. The covenant of a wedding day. A senior’s bittersweet final moments on campus. A child’s first birthday. I am filled with so much joy and gratitude to be the one who gets to document these beautiful phases of life for so many.
After realizing this passion, I invested more into learning, growing my skills, and eventually building my business into what is now Kastin Marie Photography LLC.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The hardest part is balance for me. I love my clients and always want to give them the best experience possible.
In addition to being a photographer, I am a high school teacher and softball coach. Working during the weekdays as a teacher, a softball coach most afternoons of the year and then being a photographer in the evenings and weekends has been rather challenging to say the least. It does get hard to balance it all.
I am also a wife, daughter, dog mom and friend, so these are also roles that are important to me.
I love the roles that I play within my community and feel so blessed that God has given me so many wonderful opportunities. No matter how busy life gets, it is all worth it in the end.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a lifestyle and wedding photographer who truly loves capturing it all! Families, seniors, graduates, couples, weddings, maternity, newborns, milestones, events, and sports portraits. Each season of life holds its own kind of beauty, and it’s an honor to document those moments for people.
One of the things I am most proud of is opening my own studio this past fall. It has been such a blessing and has allowed me to meet so many more wonderful people in the community.
I think what really sets me apart is my ability to capture people as they truly are and tell their story in an authentic way. I always strive to create a warm, patient, and comfortable environment during sessions so people can relax and genuinely be themselves.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Patience is a huge part of what I do. Whether it’s working with little ones, guiding seniors, or helping couples relax in front of the camera, taking the time to make people feel at ease makes all the difference. When people feel comfortable, their true personalities shine through, and that’s when the most meaningful images are created.
At the heart of it all, I approach every session with gratitude and a servant’s heart, knowing that I’m being trusted to capture moments that people will cherish for a lifetime.
