Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarius Lewis and Tavari Carter.
Hi Jarius and Tavari, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The idea to form 117 Podcast came to us one day during spring 2021. Tavari Carter and myself ( Jarius Lewis ) agreed that we talk way too much among ourselves to not let the world hear how powerful our voices and thoughts are. Life changing situations were the idea to become vocal in hopes of inspiring an audience consisting of critiques, dormant voices, and people who believe their voice doesn’t matter.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road definitely wasn’t smooth nor rocky. One of the hardest struggles was building a strong team with good communication. The idea of Our Podcast revolves around constant communication for ideas, who’s going to record, reposting, and feedback. Most of the episodes were filmed on the road, so we did a lot of communication through text or facetime. At times, someone might not respond to chats, have chats on mute, or not be a team player. Along the road, we have weeded out the weak links.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Tavari Carter and myself ( Jarius Lewis ) are the voices of 117Podcast. On our show, we discuss trending topics, life stories, and controversy. We are known for being students at the illustrious Savannah State University. The 117 Logo is our proudest monument. At one point of time, there wasn’t a logo that reflected our vision of big cities hearing our voices. The Atlanta sky line and microphone illustrate what we are without saying anything. Our hunger to grind without a handout in a world of being viral is what sets us apart. Most people count on that one viral moment to propell them, but we don’t give damn about that.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson on this journey was not to worry about other people’s success. We have tons of associates that are famous, however, that’s not our success. Staying grounded, trusting the process, and keeping strong faith will continue to be essential as 117 Podcast expands.
