Check Out Chris Tucker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Tucker.

Chris Tucker

Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I picked up a sewing machine in 2020; for Christmas, I was like let me get myself a gift. I’ve always been interested in fashion and art. As a kid, I drew sketches of dresses and different outfits constantly. The interest never went away, and I also never had hobbies growing up, so when it finally clicked that this was my passion, I leaned into it and got creative. My first project was a pair of pants I still own today, and I been experimenting since; when I first started YouTube & Glue was my best friends; I did not know what I was doing, but I kept going anyway. People around me were interested, and before I knew it, I had orders and people wanting clothes from me. As time went on, through much trial & error, things got bigger & I got better. From birthday outfits and photoshoots to Prom and even weddings, people wanted my clothes to be a part of it. God had a very big part to play in my story, and without him, none of this would be possible.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road? If the road was smooth, I wouldn’t be interested. I like challenges and figuring things out; it builds my confidence knowing I can overcome something, even if it takes me a while. I struggle with anxiety, depression, and the weight of being an entrepreneur. It’s not easy at all, but my customers make it very rewarding. Seeing the smile & happiness I bring to special events & days always lifts me up.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a fashion designer; I specialize in bringing visions to life. I’m known for making original designs and making fly clothes. I’m most proud of staying focused and not giving up. It’s easy to start something then make an excuse to stop, but I’ve actually been very consistent and focused. I think what sets me apart from others is literally just me. I’m myself; I have my own perception and mindset. I have a perspective and point of view if that makes sense. I’m original and authentic. Im currently working on custom orders. 1 of 1 pieces they’re my favorite to do.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I love risk-taking. Life keeps going & you gotta be willing to just take a chance. I’ve took plenty of major risks and don’t regret any. A risk I took was literally starting my business. I spent over a thousand dollars and emptied everything (literally) out my bank account to buy supplies & materials. It was 92 cent left after I said I’m going All In. I didn’t say it was smart, but I did it. I’m a risk taker; I love the “what if” aspect because you really just never know. Things change fast and never stay the same.
