Check Out Imani Kirkland’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Kirkland.

Hi Imani, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, I’m Imani Kirkland, 22 years old, African American female from Savannah, GA.

I studied at Jenkins High School where I was on the dance line for 2 years & later Graduated from Johnson High School where I danced for 1 year. I started doing my own hair when I was in the 4th grade and as I grew older about 8th grade I was doing others’ hair.

I now have my own business doing hair and makeup named “Maniondalook.” I have a strong passion for what I do because I’ve been doing it for so long. I also have a love for taking pictures, that’s how I grew as an Instagram influencer. I am also an upcoming artist (female rapper).

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, since I’ve been doing hair and makeup it has not always been too easy because it’s a lot of competition in the hair & makeup business, also with me being from a very small city.

Same with the music, I kind of been taking a break between work and other activities I found myself not having time to write music but lately I’ve been trying to get my groove back.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in a lot of hands-on work in the manufacturing industry. From JCB to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.

I’m most proud of my work ethic because I do most jobs females wouldn’t do. I don’t mind getting a little hot or dirty at work and I think that sets me apart from most females.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
What I learned is that there will be hardships, and you will struggle but no matter what don’t give up on yourself because you may not win today but you may win tomorrow. So keep going no matter what.
