Check Out Jarrah Jerdo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarrah Jerdo

Hi Jarrah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I remember a few years ago, during the pandemic, my boyfriend and I, and our dog Bruce came down to stay in Savannah for a few months. We loved the scenery, and how close the beach was to everything. Fast forward a few years, and boom! We officially called Savannah our new home! It was really scary to move somewhere brand new, but change is good right? Plus, what’s life without adventure? I had heard the acting scene was growing here, so my first order of business was to get enrolled in acting classes. Second order of biz, find a part time job, and third order; START NETWORKING! I met my first friend while doing background work on a set of a new show. We were filming at Elan in downtown Savannah. I remembered following this guy Jay on instagram, and a few weeks later we met in person on set! Jay introduced me to so many people I truly can’t thank him enough! He’s also become one of my best friends, easily and quickly! Jay told me about this awesome woman named Morgan who owns the BEST boutique in Savannah! Her and I connected and since then, have shot about 10 times for her brand! We even partnered with Posh Carts (@Posh_carts) for a commercial shoot! They just opened a location in Savannah last week! I can’t thank Morgan enough for always including me, and making me feel part of a team! You have to check out her boutique! My first birthday as a “local” was a game changing day as well. I went to Savannah Perfume and Candle co. with my bulldog Bruce to make a signature perfume, and the owner, Tracy, and I connected instantly! I’ve happily worked with her a few times and truly enjoy her business and company so much! She directed me to Morgan Rae’s boutique, and I bought the cutest feather trim midi dress from her. It’s funny how it’s all come full circle! I’ve also met tons of friends through social media down here in Savannah. My friend Sarah (@oldmoneyinsav), a local influencer, is ALWAYS down for content days! We meet up once a week to catch up, grab a coffee or cocktail, and create for brands and local businesses! It’s nice to be around people who “get it”! On top of that, Ive had the opportunity to shoot with some amazing photographers down here. Alyssa Tootle (@_a.r.t_photo), my favorite female photographer, and I have shot many times! Justin Wright (@j.wrightsnapped), another amazing photog, and I have linked up too! I absolutely loved shooting in his studio! Some of my favorite photos were taken in Rincon and Statesborough! I’ve also worked with my wonderful friend Robert Rainbow (@robertrainbow) (who I met many years ago) my lovely friend Dino (@uhohdino), my friend and headshot photographer Val (@valtphotography), my first studio shoot with @_theklark.org, and quite a few others! Savannah is also so close to Florida I’ve had the opportunity to connect with a lot of photographers from there as well! My dear friend Rimmel (@avisionsupreme) has visited so many times, and we’ve created amazing art together! I’d also like to give a big shoutout to Savannah Stays (@savannahstays) (for gorgeous airbnb’s) and letting us use one of their many art-deco style homes to shoot in! Oh! The Brice hotel, and Hotel Bardo as well! MUST STAY’s in Savannah! Outside of that, it’s very helpful to have a boyfriend who is a videographer! He helps me shoot content all the time as well! We’re looking to book our next shoot at Wonderland Studios! Although this is a few hours from Savannah, one of the best oppurtunities I’ve had was getting to work with Krissy King (@krissykingthelabel) in her Holiday show in Atlanta! Since then, I’ve traveled to 3 different cities with her brand! I can’t thank her enough for all of those amazing moments, beginning right here in Georgia!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has absolutely NOT been a smooth road. I am from NY state, and although I didn’t live in the city, I was only a train ride away. I started modeling/content creating there so most of my connections at the time were in NY. I decided moving down here that I would focus more on commercial modeling/acting, Prior to living here, I had my eyes on a local talent agency. I was so eager to sign up for an audition, and before I knew it I was taking classes/preparing for the official audition! I thought; this will be it! Surprisingly, I’ve always been sort of a shy person, at least in group settings. But the day I walked in to this agency, I felt more confident than ever before! I don’t want to name drop, but they did NOT like me! Their denial email was actually extremely harsh, and even went as far as saying women who looked similar to me were just NOT being booked at this time. This was extremely difficult for me, as they are the only “agency” in Savannah currently. I lost a lot of hope. Until I realized it’s ok to not be everyone’s cup of tea 🙂 I then met a lovely man on set who introduced me to his talent agency out of South Carolina. I am now part of their team, and he submits me constantly. I’ve also had to do a lot of traveling for opportunities outside of the state, but in all honesty, I love it! I can’t sit still for too long. As they say, sometimes the only way to stay sane, is to go a little crazy! It’s also been challenging to be away from my family and friends, so I do travel to NY often! It seems as though everyone who is important to me has gone through so many beautiful milestones the last 2 years, and of course I don’t want to miss them, but I’m not located down the road at this time. Unfortunately I’ve had to miss a few, so that has been tough!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
This is quite the question! Since I was little I always wanted to be in the entertainment business. I started officially modeling for Hooters of Albany(@HootersofAlbany), made it in to 3 Hooters Calendars, and even represented my home store in the Hooters International Pageant. After that I signed to Posh Models (@PoshModels) in NYC. I did a lot of networking online, grew my following, and started modeling AND content creating. Then I got my first shot at runway in 2019 for New York Swim Week. From then I’ve had the honor to walk in New York Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, Atlanta Swim Week, and New York Swim Week. It was amazing to be a part of the FIRST EVER Atlanta Swim Week show put on by my friend Maddie! Not only did I work with many amazing brands at this show, but I opened my first show ever for FIDE Apparel. My friend Ryan is crushing it! Check out his page (@fide_apparel)(@maddiegray_fitness/@atlswimweek) I’d like to Shout-out my friend Caroline and Katelynn’s brand Bovine Blues(@bovineblues), as Caroline is originally from Atlanta, Georgia and her brand has really taken off this year! I also do a lot of content creation for brands all over the world! My Instagram is 50% modeling, 50% brand collabs! On top of that I have taken a variety of acting classes, and am currently enrolled in classes with a well-known actor William Mark McCullough! He happens to live 20 minutes from me, and is the absolute best teacher, and role model. I am constantly doing auditions, just waiting for my next call-back! My short term goal is to book another commercial, and get on a set again soon! Since living in Savannah, I’ve done some background work on a TV show and Movie. I’ve also worked on two short films (Black Water Lodge/Unseasoned) and I’m eager to do another soon! I also LOVE trying new things, New products, new brands, new restaurants, new drinks! I LOVE exploring downtown savannah, there are so many fun and unique places here! I still feel like a tourist if I’m being honest! Luckily my best friend Christina, and my boyfriend Tom are new here as well, so we thoroughly enjoy exploring together! I am most proud of chasing this dream for my childhood self, and seeing things happen with the right mindset and determination! What sets me apart from other’s? I am a proud dog mom of a wonderful, and talented, skateboarding English bulldog named Bruce (@Brubie_Wan)! He’s been on the News a few times, and I have to say, his instagram is flourishing! His engagement and reach is through the roof! He is not only my best friend, but most certainly the truest talent of the family! Other than that, it’s hard to say, I guess I would recommend asking someone I’ve worked with, and let them speak on that! I will say, it’s of my highest importance to make sure to always be friendly and easy to work with, and I hope that’s how people remember me after working with me 🙂

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ll forever give credit to Hooters of Albany,NY for starters! I’d also like to give credit to anyone who’s ever believed in me, My photographer/modeling friends in NY and FL specifically for getting me to believe in myself. All of my friends who I’ve gotten so close with through modeling (@caromillerking @ginnascrocca @leahpostol) All the brands who have given me oppurtunities to work with them. Morgan Bryant for giving me endless opportunities in Savannah (@M.bryant111/@ShopMorganRae) My friend’s for always being supportive of my endeavors. My favorite hair stylist Tannah for keeping me camera ready (@Tannahpaintshair/@coastalsoulSavannah). My friend Heather for the most perfect spray tans in Savannah (@HeatherLaurenKess/@sistersunless_Savannah) My favorite makeup artist Lorena (@lorenaxatl) My acting coach, William (@Wmarkmccullough). My agencies from NY to SC and FL. My friend Stan for always believing that I can do anything I set my mind to, and supporting me in all I’ve done. My boyfriend and my dog for being my biggest support systems. My siblings for accepting me for who I am, and always encouraging me to be myself. My parent’s for setting the dream chasing bar very high, and being amazing role model’s to us. They’ve accomplished so much, my mom is on the cover of a book (my dad took the photo) on hiking all of the Adirondack Mountains. My grandmother Rosie Capuano (Roro) because I think she would be proud of me which encourages me to try hard. And GOD, of course! Although I’m still in the first few years of my journey, I can’t wait to see what’s to come! In the meantime, I wouldn’t be able to do any dream chasing without everyone listed above or my handy-dandy camera and tripod! (I’m sure you’ll see me around Savannah shooting my own content soon, if you haven’t already!)

P.s- always believe something magical is about to happen
