Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Jackson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am tour guide and photographer who has been working in around Charleston and Savannah now for 28 years! I started off as a guide in college and always kept coming back to it until I returned to doing private tours and culinary tours. My Photography started from wanting to learn how to document historic structures and the low country of SC and GA. Since then, I have learned so many types of photography and how to use so much different equipment. Drones, 360 Cameras, etc.!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning to operate your own schedule require a ton of disciple and attention to detail. You are always worried you forgot something or wrote something down wrong. That has been the toughest part, that and you never want to turn aways customers, so it’s tough finding days off! Currently, I am struggling with time (as always) to be able to sit and edit my recent photography, I love taking photos, but editing the images is the hardest part.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in tours, architecture and landscape photography.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My wife, Elizabeth, for being so encouraging. Stephen Hyatt for all his mentoring in HDR photography. Paul Dunker for his incredible instruction in long-exposure photography. And countless other guides who cull tons of data into interesting tidbits!
