Check Out Natassia Gyger’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natassia Gyger.

Hi Natassia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been photographing families for about 5 years now. It all started with my love for photographing my kids and documenting their milestones. I saw just how quickly time went and how much my children were changing, I wanted to hold on to those memories, so I was constantly taking them to get their photos done. It wasn’t until I realized that I wanted to document these moments myself and not only get those milestone moments but everyday moments too. Soon after I started sharing photos I had taken, I had friends and family ask if I would take photos of their kids and families. I quickly realized just how happy this all made me and how much it meant to me to be able to give them something so special, something that I, too, held dear to my heart.

Moving forward, I started growing my list of friends, and it soon grew into a small business. I originally started my business in New Mexico, where I grew up most of my life, and in 2020, my husband and I decided to move our family to Bluffton, SC. This was so scary in many different ways but also very exciting as well! To say I wasn’t nervous to start my business from scratch would be a lie. Moving here and not knowing anybody was difficult, but I was determined to continue to do what made me happy, and that was photographing families.

I now am able to provide photography sessions for families from all over the country who are visiting, as well as locals. Photography to me, is so much more than just snapping a picture; it’s creating memories that will last a lifetime; it’s pressing pause for a moment in time to look back on and remember those feelings of joy, happiness, and love.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“Nothing worth having comes easy.” To say the road has been smooth wouldn’t be the case. Being a stay-at-home mom of 3 kids does have its challenges in its own while trying to run a small business. Trying to divide my time between running my business, school events, sports, performances, family time, and keeping up with everyday chores of being a stay-at-home mom can be hard. It has taken a lot of trial and errors, stressful days, and understanding from not only me but my husband and kids (which I’m so grateful for them!) As a family, we work together to help make my dream come true, and I truly believe God has given me this passion and ability to do this for a reason. When I get messages from clients who tell me these photos hold such a special place in their heart and that they will forever be grateful for the memories they have, makes it all worth it!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in family photography, which can include child milestones, newborn, senior sessions, engagement, maternity, and the obvious, family photography. The style of my photography is outdoors with natural light and bright colors.

My goal is to provide my clients with photos that bring them back to a special moment in time. As a mother, I know that time goes by so fast, and we can’t get that time back, so I want to press pause for you! I want to make your session fun, enjoyable and sweet memories full of hugs, kisses, dancing, and just time together as a family while I document it!

I pride myself on making your session fun and most importantly not stressful. I hear a lot of families, especially moms, who worry their kids won’t do well during the shoot because they don’t like getting their photos taken. This is where I tell them, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this!”. I love to make your session easy going, so the kids feel as if we are just playing and having fun. This brings those beautiful candid moments that I love! This is not only a photo session, it’s making memories in the process, it’s a time where you look at your photos and think of how much fun you had at your session and not how stressful it was!

I am so proud of where this business has taken me! I feel like I have grown not only in my photography skills but also as a person. I get to meet new people every day and hear their stories; I get to make a connection with each of my families and build a relationship with them. When I hear back from my clients, and they send me photos of their memories hanging in their homes, it makes me so happy and full of joy that I was able to provide something so special.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I have learned that every day is unpredictable. Specializing in outdoor family photos, it’s important to understand my client’s wants and needs and pick the very best location and time to make their experience seamless and memorable. I plan everything that I can control because I know there will be obstacles I cannot. It is my job to find a way to adapt and adjust to produce top-quality work, and I have applied that to not only my business but also my life as a mother.

I understand the struggles that my clients sometimes have wanting the perfect family picture, but the little ones are not cooperating. Being a mother of 3, I have acquired lots of patience and creative ways to make taking photos exciting. I have learned how to captivate their attention through fun and love that brings out those precious moments that make for the best photos.

One of my favorite bible verses is “Let all that you do be done in love” 1 Corinthians 16:14 and this is definitely a lesson learned through my years of photographing families. We are all trying to get through this thing called life, every person has a story, and every story is different. I want to show all my families and clients I work with my love and passion. I have to make their memories last a lifetime.
