Today we’d like to introduce you to Pearla Harvey.
Hi Pearla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Pearla Harvey, Tribally known as Chief Hacha Kusso, Chief Administrator of Yuchii Kusso Mvskoki Tribe. The Yuchii Kusso Mvskoki Tribe (YKM), a grassroots organization and tribal government established in August 2021 with a seven-member elected council, represents more than 123 members across the United States of America (Republic) and is dedicated to fostering sustainable governance, community development, and cultural preservation. The Council is committed to preserving Indigenous tribal heritage and traditions while addressing the needs of underserved and overlooked populations.
The Thomasina E. Jordan Indian Tribes of Virginia Federal Recognition Act (2017) acknowledges the historical injustices faced by Copper-Colored Black Indians, whose identities were unlawfully altered by state mandates. These actions forced Indigenous peoples to renounce their tribal sovereignty as well as their Indian identities, classifying them instead as “Negro” or “Colored.”
• Yuchii Kusso Mvskoki Tribal Services, Inc. is registered with SAM.gov (UEI: NYUJEZ1X2HZ3) as a Tribal Government and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and trust (98-6113224).
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Police officials have harassed us. Have not been approved for a federal grant since we started submitting applications in 2021.
• While not federally recognized, the tribe has maintained its sovereignty without pursuing federal recognition.
• The tribe’s mission is to promote sustainable governance, preserve cultural heritage, and serve the needs of Copper-Colored Indigenous Tribes who have historically faced systemic discrimination.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

She is most thankful to have found her true identity and to help others find theirs.
Pearla Harvey wrote a book titled “The Great Deception” on Amazon. This is a non-fiction Biblical Book, not religious. It discusses things that most Pastors or Christians don’t talk about. It will help you understand what is going on Biblically and in the world at this time, and show you how to come closer to the Almighty God, the Creator. The book is on Amazon, and the author’s website is www.calltoawakening.org.
How do you define success?
Success is when one knows their purpose, works toward it, and fulfills their goals to carry it out. Many people believe that money, a wife, or a husband, and children make them successful, although real success and happiness come from within.
