Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Parker.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story of how I started influencing began two-three years ago when I was working retail. A store I was working with wanted me to work with them as their brand influencer after one of my managers caught a glimpse of my Instagram. I had between 2,000 and 3,000 followers when I first started out. I also feel like with going through the pandemic when COVID started, I wanted to find a way to keep busy and find a way to express my creativity with my passion for both fashion and photography. I started to do a lot of social media research as well as creating high-quality content my audience would engage with. This has actually helped me grow as a person and become more confident in myself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, especially with people’s first reactions to me telling them I work in social media. Social media is also always up and down, highs and lows. It also takes keeping up with the latest trends and staying very involved with your community of followers. It is a lot more actual work than people think it is.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a social media influencer, it is essential that I stay involved in my community in Savannah, as well as my large audience online. It is also fun to give recommendations to people visiting the Savannah area. I have worked with Airbnb, small businesses, and hotels in and around the Savannah area, as well as Florida, Texas, and Tennessee. I love coming up with creative ways to promote places and events as well as collaborating with different photographers and other influencers. I think what sets me apart from other influencers in the area would be my Western style as well as my love for bold, bright colors. I have even done work for an Airbnb in St Augustine, Florida, that matched my “Pink Barbie” aesthetic perfectly.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a little bit introverted and shy. Being an influencer has definitely helped me break out of my shell and be more outgoing, and helped me develop my personality.
