Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Cryan.
Hi Veronica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My name is Verónica Cryan, but everyone calls me V. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and moved to Savannah at the beginning of 2022. All my life I loved being creative. Whether it was painting, drawing, singing, being in plays, building things, or taking photos, I was always creating something new. My childhood dream was always to be an artist and to have my own business. As I grew older, I fell in love with the fashion industry and creating wardrobes for people. I was a personal stylist for 5 years and could never get enough of it. Shortly after I moved to Savannah, I wanted to do something new with my talents. After lots of research and fine-tuning I started to build my photography portfolio. Session by session my dream started to grow into a business, and I couldn’t be more proud of it. Captured by V LLC. was officially born mid-2022.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business is always difficult for anyone, but there is a lot to learn from it. Trying to get my name and work out there was definitely one of my bigger challenges. You can post all day long on social media and hand out a thousand and one business cards, but getting people to take time out of their day to look at your business is a whole other task in itself. The best advice I was given was, “Take everything day by day. If you can make it through today, just think about what you can do tomorrow”. Any struggle I have or doubt that my work isn’t good enough is overcome by that advice. Patience is definitely key.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a self-taught portrait photographer. I specialize in family and couple photography. Being able to capture the love people have for one another is my favorite thing about being a photographer. Photos give you a little glimpse into people’s raw emotions, and it’s so beautiful. There is no greater feeling than seeing your client’s reaction to their gallery and watching them fall more in love with each other.
What matters most to you? Why?
The most important thing to me, other than my family, is making sure I’m being my best authentic self and making sure everyone who I meet feels safe enough to do the same. The world we currently live in is, unfortunately, a harsh one. Everyone is always worried about being liked or accepted or if they are wearing the right outfit to fit in. I hate that. So many people are conforming themselves to fit a mold that isn’t real. My mom always taught me and my siblings to be kind, genuine, and unapologetically true to what you believe. I believe that with just a simple smile or a hello can spread so much warmth to people, especially those who need it most.
