Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Jones.
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Watersedge Design Company began in 2006 as a creative side hustle by designer Brandon Jones, driven by a passion for thoughtful design and a desire to bring ideas to life. What started as a part-time endeavor evolved into a full-time business in 2019, officially establishing Watersedge as a design studio rooted in authenticity, vision, and detail.
In 2020, interior designer Presley Terry helped expand this dream by introducing interior design services to Watersedge. Her vision and talent allowed the company to grow beyond architectural design, offering clients a more comprehensive and cohesive design experience.
From the beginning, Jones has been committed to establishing Watersedge as a fixture in the Bulloch County business community and a trusted resource for clients seeking a bespoke, personal approach to design. With a broad range of services—from new construction and remodels to space planning and interiors—the company specializes in creating designs that are both functional and deeply personal. “Our goal is to create homes and spaces that tell our client’s story,” Jones explains.
Prior to founding Watersedge, Jones taught architectural design at Screven County High School. Though no longer teaching in the classroom, he and Presley continue to mentor aspiring designers through internships, passing on values of creativity, craftsmanship, and curiosity.
The firm’s work reflects a commitment to authenticity and a belief that great design pushes boundaries. “If we’re not challenging the design world a little, or testing a client’s comfort zone, then we’re not doing our job,” says Jones. “You can buy house plans online—but we’re designing for individuals, not for the masses.”
That philosophy has resonated. Watersedge has earned numerous accolades, including Discovering Bulloch’s Readers’ Choice “Best Residential Designer” (2021–2025), Statesboro Herald’s “Best of the Boro” (2021–2024), Statesboro Magazine’s Fabulist Award for Best Interior Designer, and honorable mentions for Best Architectural Design Firm in the Georgia Business Journal over the past several years.
Jones credits the company’s growth to a collaborative design team and key support from Georgia Southern University’s Business Innovation Group, which helped transition the studio from a home-based operation to a downtown office—later acquiring its current historic building location in downtown Statesboro.
From its name to the atmosphere of the studio, Watersedge embodies a sense of flow—of ideas, collaboration, and creative momentum. “The joy can be found in the journey,” says Jones. “Not just the arrival at the destination.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road—but a meaningful one. I took the long route to get where I am today, especially since I’m not a licensed architect. That brought its own set of challenges—from building credibility without the traditional credentials to proving the value of experience, vision, and results.
For years, I balanced a full-time teaching career while growing Watersedge as a side hustle. There were countless late nights, growing pains, and moments of uncertainty. Transitioning from a home office to a dedicated studio and assembling the right team didn’t happen overnight. It took time, faith, and persistence.
But I couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support of my wife and kids. They’ve been my grounding force through it all—encouraging the dream, adapting to the demands, and cheering on every step of the journey. Their belief in me made it possible to keep pushing forward when things felt hard or unclear.
Looking back, every struggle helped shape the identity of Watersedge: a studio rooted in authenticity, collaboration, and the belief that the best designs come from truly understanding the people we’re designing for.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Watersedge, we focus on thoughtful, story-driven residential design. Our work spans from new construction and large-scale remodels to space planning and interior design—and everything in between. We pride ourselves on being highly collaborative and hands-on, guiding each client through a process that feels intentional, approachable, and personal.
What sets us apart is our ability to see the big picture while obsessing over the details. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter plans or trends for the sake of trends. Every home we design is a direct reflection of the people who live in it—how they function, how they gather, how they rest, and what matters to them. Whether it’s designing a forever home from the ground up or reimagining an existing space, we listen first, then design with purpose.
We work closely with builders, craftsmen, and vendors to ensure the vision translates from paper to reality. And with the addition of our interior design services, led by Presley, we’re able to offer a more cohesive and complete experience—from layout and materials to lighting, furnishings, and final styling. It’s not just about good design—it’s about creating a space that feels like home from the moment you walk in.
Ultimately, our job is to take your ideas, your lifestyle, and your story—and shape them into a space that not only works, but resonates. We design homes that feel lived in, loved, and truly yours.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I have so many fond memories from my childhood, but one that stands out—perhaps unexpectedly—is bike riding. It was something we did almost daily as a family, and at the time, learning to ride felt like a major accomplishment. It marked a real milestone in my sense of independence. Even now, when I ride, I’m instantly brought back to that feeling of freedom and the simplicity of childhood.
Looking back, it’s clear how much that experience parallels my personal and professional journey. My parents and those around me were always supportive of my creativity and constantly encouraged me to explore my passions. That encouragement was grounded in strong moral and Christian values, which I carry with me to this day.
One of the greatest gifts my parents gave me was the space to make mistakes. While they never wanted to see me fail, they understood the importance of learning through trial and error—something that’s shaped my ability to take responsibility, make decisions, and lead with confidence.
I’m deeply grateful for everyone who played a part in those memories. They’ve helped shape who I am today, both personally and professionally.
