Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Hodges.
Hi Dawn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My name is Dawn Y. Whipple–Hodges, the founder & owner of Beautifly Mahogani Boutique and the Beautifly Mahogani brand. After working in the corporate world for 25 years, I felt I had obtained all the necessary knowledge and expertise that would allow me to venture into entrepreneurship. Starting my brand enabled me to take my love for fashion and use it as a way to build confidence through a womanhood of excellence, with women who will always be there to genuinely support, inspire, and encourage each other throughout all life’s challenges and achievements.
It is my mission, through my brand, to empower and motivate women who suffer from low self-esteem. It has always been my desire to help women that lack the confidence they need in overcoming the many struggles that they encounter throughout their lives, which keeps them from reaching higher heights. Women deserve to be successful in various dynamics. And I have dedicated myself in helping every woman embrace her unique characteristics and style, no matter her shade of skin, size, or fears. I believe every woman has the power to overcome those things that is holding them back and push forward in creating a path towards success within her mind, body, and soul. I want all Queens to feel powerful no matter what life throws at her and look fabulous too.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to getting to where I wanted to be in my life has not always been a cakewalk. I have had to stop and start my business due to my second child being diagnosed with cancer and many other family issues that caused me to have to take a long break. Then, when I thought I could start my business endeavor again, I was met with having to overcome the challenges COVID brought about, in having to find all new vendors to supply all of the fashion demands of my customers, as well as I had to learn new ways to reach new customers through the various social platforms.

What sets us apart from others is our ability to provide quality service and analysis that is instrumental in helping us to create a fashion profile for curvy women that will be vital in meeting their desired style for any occasion. I am so proud that I have been able to formulate a brand that is constantly evolving in finding new ways to customize new trendy looks that will make our customers feel powerful, irresistible, and confident in conquering whatever they venture into.
What matters most to you?
What matters to me the most is being able to build and expand my various business endeavors in being able to create generational wealth for children and my grandchildren that will afford them more prominent opportunities.
