Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Brinson.
Hi Diamond, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
In 2012, I was 15 years old and my Father Malone Brinson started a trucking company named “Black Steele”. He started off with two trucks and when I went to visit him he would teach me the ins and outs of his operation.
He often always spoke about a lady Samantha whom he worked closely with who was the broker he would get loads from and before his passing in 2015 he told me that Logistics should be the industry that I start a career in.
After his passing, I felt lost and did not know what I really wanted. I always had dreams of going to college to make my parents proud and possibly becoming a nurse practitioner.
As time went on and I was living that dream it just seemed harder and harder to become tangible as I was working two jobs to get through my grieving process for my father. Over the years, I still felt that I was not living in his honor and was unhappy with trying to finish school.
I continued to work two jobs and isolate myself from family and friends to further my dreams and ambitions of becoming someone my father was proud of. I worked as a manager and team developer for seven years at QuickTrip gas station which funded all of my accomplishments.
In 2021, I became pregnant with my daughter A’Noura which gave me the drive to think outside of the box on how to break my way into the Logistics industry. During my pregnancy, I did intensive research on understanding the supply chain and each of the supply chain’s moving parts. I found my passion when I started to learn the moving parts of import from the ports and how “The Ports” was such a valuable moving piece.
After I finish all my research on what to do, I then wrote up a business plan to really give myself a push on changing my whole life upside down from working the traditional 9-5. My husband Brandon read the business plan and said “It is your time to shine” I will definitely support you with all that you have helped “Secure One Security Firm” with.
Next thing I noticed he bought us an LLC for our now Logistics company “Brinson Logistics and Freight in honor of my late father Malone Brinson.
Once we finished taking every step to make our company legal and get all authorities to operate as a logistics company in the United States we then began to look for mentorship and leadership. We interviewed and reached out to many people, but only one person became a match for our company and that was Ms. Hope Allen of Logistically Speaking.
Her mentorship did not just prepare us for the Logistics world or give us the tools and resources we needed to survive a recession in this drastic economy but she was able to give us capabilities to help fix the supply chain for the future. Ms. Allen was definitely home for us because she was able to bring “Brinson Logistics and Freight” full circle by bringing me back to Savannah, Georgia for training because that was my birthplace and where my mother Edna Darby fell in love with my late father.
As of today Brinson Logistics and Freight is thriving and on the road to success. We are currently always seeking new partnerships with manufacturing companies and carriers. Brinson Logistics and Freight is a Certified Women/Minority owned business specializing in the facilitation of the movement of Interstate and Intrastate freight throughout the United States.
We currently operate with a growing network of 25,000 carriers. While headquartered in Charlotte, NC, and saturated in the Southeast Region. This provides us the unique ability and flexibility to be hands-on with all providers and partners we serve. Brinson Logistics and Freight strengths are Container Freight, Flatbed, and Truck Load services.
Our core competencies are to continue to grow with the demand in the logistics industry and build relationships along the way to provide the best customer service. While priding ourselves on communication, safety, accountability, and affirming on-time deliveries.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Brinson Logistics and Freight has not had a smooth road I do not think any start-up company does.
We have had a few challenges along the way like finding a trustworthy mentor, and capable systems to work on such as a back office, getting women-owned and minority-owned certified, and getting told “NO” many times because we are a smaller company.
Knowing your business really matters because those “No’s” turn into “Yeses”
We’ve been impressed with Brinson Logistics and Freight, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
If my company learned anything through this pandemic/crisis of Covid-19 it would be to constantly stay knowledgeable in your industry and always have projections on what will happen in the future to be adaptable to change along the way.
