Community Highlights: Meet Lingeela Johnson of Laying Of Hands Massage (L.O.H.M.)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lingeela Johnson.

Hi Lingeela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I attended the now defunct High Tech Institute in Marietta, Georgia. One of my dreams has always been to work with college and NFL athletes. Because of my mother’s ailments, I believed that massage could help her. I have worked in the industry at several different spas locally while working as a Mobile Massage Therapist.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any business, massage has its ebbs and flows, highs and lows. Some struggles include breaking the mindset that massage is only viewed as a luxury instead of a need, how massage is not offered on insurance policies as a form of preventative, post-care, and alternative medicine outside of Medical Massage; and the pay inside of the spa.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Laying Of Hands Massage is a my Mobile Massage business. I received my license on January 24, 2008. I specialize in Sports Massage with Stretching and T.R.A.U.M.A massage. I am known for being very intentional, thorough, and understanding. I have the gift of healing and this expression manifests in my massage. My clients have communicated that my hands disseminate heat. My name, my hands, my knowledge, and expertise are my brand. I have been asked, “Have you massaged any famous people?” My response is, “Yes, everyone who I massage!” You won’t leave like you came! Just like everyone is different, so are my services. My services are catered and Taylor made for my clients.

What are your plans for the future?
Although everyone is important, I would love to working collaborate with universities, colleges, and professional athletes, especially with Coach Deion “Prime” Sanders and the NFL. I also incorporate a pain relief kit that my business partner invented to calm the mind, body, and spirit, which have received RAVE reviews!
