Community Highlights: Meet Sierra Evans of Embrace Grace Mama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Evans.

Hi Sierra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Story of Embrace Grace Mama When my oldest daughter was 4 years old, she was slamming doors in our faces and yelling, I didn’t know how to process or handle it gently without breaking her spirit. That started me down a long, many-year journey of discovering my parenting style. Along the way, my relationship with Jesus was reignited, and He is the one who led to grace-based parenting.

I was ready book after book, the changes were apparent in my life, through my children, and soon other moms started reaching out for advice.

I never expected it to turn into a ministry. A book, a mentorship, and a small group curriculum. But that’s the way God led it, and helping people find that same peace and joy reverberated each ounce of me.

Parents didn’t have to despise discipline. They didn’t have to yell. They didn’t have to have that immense guilt that held in their shoulders after a negative interaction. Grace-based discipline is all about setting the parent free from the toxic culture society pushes on mothers.

Hence, Embrace Grace Mama was born.

Now, I humbly walk alongside moms on their journey celebrating success and empathizing through their pain, and they learn the principles of the GRACE acronym, each a piece of the character of Jesus.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. Everything I read on parenting I would try to implement into my style, and it just made me feel eclectic. There had to be a different way than all these “methods.”

We are a blended family, so attempting to parent amongst splitting my parenting time was a challenge in and of itself, as well as surrendering control our different parenting styles

My mental space has been heavily attacked during the development of this book.

Fear of what people would say if I took a stance on Godly parenting, as I was an ornery child, I felt as if I was a fraud

Stepping out in stark contrast of what society says in how to parent or what good parenting is

Much of what I express is controversial and therefore met with resistance

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
I am a leader in grace-based parenting, inviting others onto this path of freedom with me.

I would consider it a Motherhood Ministry dedicated to raising the next generation of children equipped with the Word of God.

Known for Grace Based Parenting, it is a relationally based parenting style that has a mix of gentle/attachment parenting styles.

What sets me apart from others…

I won’t be quiet! There is a real enemy that tries to cover the truth. Raising children and being an active participant in their influence is counter to what society tells you in how to “be successful.”

I want to shine a light on Mothers’ paths showing that children are the greatest mission we could ever be blessed with.

I am most honored to offer mentorships. Developing a relationship with a mother and sharing the knowledge I’ve been blessed to gather gives so much joy to my life. They are six-week mentorship that’s can be in person or virtual; you get someone on fire in your corner and wanting to give you a ridiculous amount of support.

I am so confident in the GRACE acronym (my format of “how” to embody being a grace-based parent) that it will revolutionize how you parent and relate to your children.

My book will hopefully launch this year; I’ve been knees-deep writing it each day. It is a cumulative well-rounded look of practical applications and grace-filled principles that strength your relationship with Jesus and your child. It WILL lead you on the journey you didn’t know you needed to go on. Praying for the path of publication to be made known to me.

I have FIVE more slots open for the next mentorship session that will launch April 3rd.

Having a mentor come alongside you is a wonderful way to feel secure in your learning; you don’t have to know anything, just a willing spirit to learn.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would say that I am a risk-taker because I’ve never been a follower. I guess you could classify me as a black sheep. If I’m told to do something, I’ll discover and research it for myself and then make my best-educated decision. I don’t take things at face value.

For example,

We felt as if God called my husband and I (and our four children) into a Fulltime RV travel lifestyle. This would require that my husband sold his stable job, selling our house and ALL of our belongings. We jumped on faith, knowing God would provide the “what” and “how” we were going to make this lifestyle sustainable when His time was right.

It’s been almost a year, and God has financially provided ENTIRELY while we have always been under. This season of being in the RV has challenged our dependence on Him for provision, not ourselves.

Another risk would be giving birth to our fourth daughter in the RV. She was our second home birth but first camper birth. The what ifs on space, availability, everyone able to arrive on time, my risk of hemorrhage crept up. But she was born speedy fast, in an hour and a half from first contraction to delivery.

Another risk would be Homeschooling all the children while writing while having newborns while doing mentorships, and maintaining friendships- that I would do it well

I guess yet another would be actively pursuing my ex-husband in reconciling our parenting relationship so that our girls could have peace and joy between their biological parents. I’m grateful to say we’ve been friends, serving our children in our own ways but together since 2020. My current husband, the older girl’s dad, and myself all have a decent relationship that is willing to grow.

I also run marathons for Team World Vision, which is a Christian non-profit organization that build and sustains clean water wells to those who are in the greatest need. I fundraise monetarily and provide child sponsorships for these community projects as well as train for the races themselves. If you’re interested in learning more about my clean water mission, it is on my social media pages.

I would definitely classify myself as a risk-taker! This interview is even a risk in and of itself, but we are called to testify
