Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Sutlive.
Hi Ashleigh, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my blog in January of 2011, when the blogging boom happened. All my friends had one and I really wanted to create a space myself. I started off really just blogging like an online diary. Then one day, I ran across a blogger on Pinterest who was creating things for her blog to share with others, not just daily life activities. I thought, that looks fun; I’ve got a blog, I want to give that a try. So, I started blogging about fashion and loved it. I got to connect with so many fun, small businesses and gain knowledge about this blogging thing. I then moved from that topic to misc others, but after a lot of soul searching and contemplation, I settled on hygge/travel. I have always loved exploring new places; I’m a bit of a photography nerd, so getting to share beauty with others and inspire them to step out of their comfort zone is just too exciting. Self care is something I’m still learning about, so sharing the journey with others is very encouraging. The goal one day is to make a space where I share places to visit that incorporate a self care/hygge feeling to them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely been a learning experience and still is. Two of the biggest learning curves for me were social media and SEO. I’m still figuring these out, but I’m enjoying the process.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well, I think I would say that my business on a broad scale is helping people. But, that isn’t super specific, I know. I have always wanted a space where others can come to find answers to the questions they have about a certain topic- in this case, travel and self care. I am by no means an authority on the subjects, but honestly, I love the fact that everyone can have their own point of view on something that is very well known already. Take travel for instance; there are a million and one articles on travel of any type, but when I write, there is only one post from my perspective. It’s so cool how different points of view can be shared and make something that everyone is familiar with seem new again.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to develop relationships with many different travel destinations that incorporate an element of self care/hygge to their establishment and be able to connect my readers with these places in the hope they will want to enjoy the same type of relaxation I would have in visiting them. I love the idea of getting close to just a select few small companies and helping them grow the business they pour so much love into. Working with me looks like me reaching out to a travel destination or them reaching out to me and the two of us creating a collaboration that will help them to grow and give others an individual perspective on a certain place.
