Today we’d like to introduce you to DaNeece Sheldon.
Hi DaNeece, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started as a coach early on, however it was before I actually knew what I was doing. As the daughter of a single mom, one of the things I noticed immediately was that my mother read the fine print in everything, cared about education and one of her favorite quotes.. “I don’t see why not”. Seeing my mother always in lead roles and positions afforded me the opportunity to understand to some extent what this looked like at 19 as I entered corporate America. While I did not have a lot of college courses, I did have some knowledge from being around my mother’s peers and colleagues, listening to their stories (the office drama never stopped). As I began my journey in corporate, I understood I was different; however my differences made me want to better understand how this world worked. My beginnings were not in leadership, however each time I had a role while in an office, I was placed in roles, meetings, conferences that required me to be in the lead. I watched those in leadership, executives, and a number of departments essentially play this “game” that I thought was interesting. I’ve always been able to get along with peers and department head alike, they’d provide insight about their roles, the vision of the company, and how they’d deploy the vision in conversation. This taught me that while they were smiling in meetings they’re frustrated about some of the ideas/vision that did not come to fruition. I eventually began to start creating and/or was included in projects or initiatives that required support from leadership. This support allowed me to build relationships (my network) and I better understood how to execute on those projects and initiatives. After understanding how this game was played it became easier to be recommended for roles and/or responsibilities that placed me in front of executive leadership. I’ve essentially been recommended for each role I’ve held for more than 20 years. As a side note, one thing I learned was that title meant nothing at all, it was due to one’s leadership influence, network, identity, and presence that all impacted when, what, and how a project was done (or not done). As a leader with direct reports I’ve told all on my team, I’ll teach you how to take my job if you simply pay attention, implement the strategy, and play the game. I’ve always thought that if one wanted to get ahead they needed to understand the basics of corporate, then understand the unwritten rules of corporate. In helping other to understand and get ahead, I eventually began to think about how I could be an executive leadership coach as a business (at the suggestion of my husband- whom I affectionately call “husband). I started posting online initially as a life coach, however after a few conversations with husband and attending a mastermind in ATL, GA, I immediately adjusted in early 2025 and have had clients since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the struggles for me was getting back into social media, while I was previously a fan of IG, TT was now available to since I didn’t know much about TT, I started there first. The more I learned about TT the more I liked it, now it is my preferred method of posting on social media. Another thing I needed to get over was caring what others thought about this new “venture”; I didn’t want to stop because I was frightened of what people said. I pushed through regardless of the challenge in people seeing me. (now I could care less). Lastly, with this new way of life I needed to ensure I had a schedule that worked for me; I no longer worked my 9-5 so I needed to set structure and boundaries that worked.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a corporate veteran of 30 years, I specialize in executive leadership coaching; I began this profession because I helped others while in corporate america get to the next level, it became evident that my expertise helped others in and outside of their professional careers. I am proud of those that have entrusted me with their leadership journey, set time to better understand leadership challenges they cant see due to having a blindspot, and helping ones to gain confidence in areas they previously considered a “ceiling”. As an executive leadership coach, one of the things I am known for is authenticity, using logic to disprove negative thoughts, and my 4 pillar framework that works for my clientele regardless of personal and/or professional pursuits.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
