Today we’d like to introduce you to Gracie D. Darling.
Gracie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My personal wellness journey was born the way many journeys are, out of necessity. I engaged in meditation and yoga as a child and in my teens discovered Tai Chi. Meditation and Tai Chi became coping mechanisms for my deep post traumatic stress. After surviving attempted murder, I carried the weight of the experience. Tai Chi helped me gain peace, acceptance and eventually led to a path of emotional healing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Trauma has the versatility and power to affect much more than emotional wellbeing. The experience lives in the head and heart but can manifest in the physical body as autoimmune diseases, when left untreated. While heredity does play a hand in the development, trauma can be the trigger for lifelong illness. As I have always believed, my experiences are meant to help others. So back to the books for an expansive decade of nutrition, adaptogens, holistic medicine, Chinese medicine and herbalism. I don’t frequently quit until I have reached a solution that can serve other people.
These forms of healing the physical body paired beautifully with Tai Chi to curate a tangible system of wellness for anyone, regardless of their situation.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In short, I am a wellness curator. I am most proud of my exclusive methodology. From my original and deconstructed Tai Chi style of instruction, I have created over a dozen programs to address very specific issues. Tai Chi can be used to help warehouse workers reduce injury or ease the aging process by strengthening balance. Tai Chi can help with stress, anxiety, PTSD and inflammation. The expansive wonders of this martial art make it ideal for customizing programs perfect for anybody’s goals or fitness levels.
My methodology regarding nutrition is just as unique and exclusive. My specialty is inclusive, holistic foods to reduce inflammation. I believe you can still eat what you want and improve your health at the same time. I created Inclusive Low Inflammation or ili, which categorizes foods by inflammation severity. This allows people to space out the most inflammatory foods but still enjoy them on a regular basis. My utilization of adaptogens, plants and herbs continues the fight against inflammation with Adaptogenic Therapy. These powerful botanicals work to rehabilitate physiological processes to boost overall health.
My lifelong goal has been to have adaptable, customizable and versatile programs in order to best serve people struggling to achieve their ideal picture of health.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Almost no one knows that I am a survivor of attempted murder, not once but twice. It isn’t something I have ever really spoken about. Those experiences influenced every decision that came after. I did not always cope properly which instilled in me a great sense of empathy and compassion for others who struggle with trauma of any kind. It was during my first experience at 17 that I decided my trials would be used to help others persevere and thrive through the most challenging circumstances.
