Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Howard.
Heather, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got my first camera at 13, and from the very beginning photography felt playful and instinctive. My neighborhood friends and I would get dressed up and spend hours creating images, not realizing then that I was already learning how to tell stories through photos. I upgraded my camera at 16 and continued to grow, but I took a natural pause during motherhood. At 24, I returned to photography with a clearer vision and a deeper purpose, and that’s when I officially launched Gayle & Glory Photography. Since then, I’ve built my business around genuine connection, storytelling, and capturing people as they truly are.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been easy. Of course a new business, especially photography in a saturated area, has is challenge. I thought so many times I wasn’t good enough for the career. I learned comparison is the thief of joy, I remember being ready to just throw in the towel. My mom and sister constantly encouraged me and would allow me to practice photographing them. Without them I would not be where I am today
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in editorial and documentary-style photography that focuses on genuine connection and storytelling. What sets me apart is my ability to make people feel comfortable and truly seen, which allows me to capture natural, emotional moments instead of forced poses. My approach blends artistry with authenticity, so the final images feel more in the moment and real. I am most proud of my greenhouse that I built for mini sessions.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see a shift towards more elopements and small intimate weddings. We are seeing a huge demand for ‘content creators’ and I believe a lot of photographers will begin to include this in their packages.
