Conversations with Jill Gray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Gray.

Hi Jill, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in the world of gymnastics, so it’s always been a huge part of my life. I bring over 13 years of combined experience in gymnastics and management, and I’ve been lucky to work with athletes from all over the United States, coaching students from 18 months all the way to 18 years old. I’ve loved guiding them through both competitive and non-competitive programs, camps, and well-known meets — helping them grow their skills and confidence along the way.

Being a Savannah native, my roots here are really important to me. I moved back in 2024 to be closer to family and quickly realized I wanted to create a space where everyone felt welcomed and could share the same love and passion I have for gymnastics. That’s what led me to open Riverfront Gymnastics Center in Bloomingdale in October 2024 — a place where kids can grow, have fun, and fall in love with the sport just like I did.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to opening Riverfront Gymnastics Center was definitely an adventure! We sold our home in Florida, moved back to Savannah, and spent months traveling near and far to find the right gymnastics equipment — even driving as far as Illinois for certain pieces. While waiting for our facility to be completed, we filled two storage units with all our gear and spent countless hours preparing every detail, especially behind the scenes.

Since opening, we’ve grown quickly! Today, we offer nearly 50 classes a week and are so grateful for the amazing families we get to see and serve regularly.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the owner and founder at Riverfront Gymnastics Center in Bloomingdale, where we offer a mix of recreational & competitive programs, birthday parties, and other special events for kids of all ages. I specialize in helping athletes build strong skills while also developing confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship. I work with a wide range of students, from toddlers just starting out to teens competing in advanced programs, and I love finding ways to make gymnastics fun, challenging, and accessible for everyone.

I’m most proud of the community we’ve built at Riverfront. I think what really makes Riverfront special is that it’s built on a mix of professional experience and personal passion — everything here reflects my love for gymnastics and my belief that every child should have a place to grow, have fun, and feel proud of what they accomplish.

One of the things our gym has truly become known for is one of our core values — FUN. It’s intentional, and it’s part of everything we do. Our coaches often say it’s a place where they can set aside the stresses of the day, pour into their athletes, and genuinely enjoy what they do.

For the kids who walk through our doors, it’s more than just a class — it’s an experience. We’ve created a positive, high-energy environment where they can learn real gymnastics skills while feeling encouraged, supported, and free to just be kids.

What sets us apart from many other recreational activities is that we combine structured skill development with an atmosphere that feels welcoming and uplifting. It’s not just about drills or routines — it’s about building confidence, friendships, and a love for movement in a space that feels like a second home.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along this journey is patience. Building something meaningful — whether it’s an athlete’s skills or an entire gym from the ground up — takes time, consistency, and trust in the process. There have been moments where growth felt slow or challenges felt overwhelming, but I’ve learned that steady, faithful effort always pays off. Patience has shaped how I coach, how I lead, and how I build — reminding me that lasting success isn’t rushed, it’s developed over time.
