Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Miller
Hi Josh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I fell in love with music. Even while being homeschooled, I dedicated myself to learning as much music theory as possible. I would spend hours watching YouTube videos of Jon Bellion making music, which sparked my passion for music production—something that would later shape my life.
But music wasn’t my only creative outlet. I also developed a deep love for filmmaking and started a YouTube channel with my best friend, Teddy Glenn, around the age of 13. Dance was another huge part of my life, thanks to my mom(Muriel Miller), who was a dance teacher and ran a company called Abeni Cultural Arts. On top of all that, I was heavily involved in the church since I grew up in a Christian household, though I hadn’t yet fully embraced my faith for myself.
At 17, I moved out of my childhood home and moved in with my best friend, Henry Blanchard. We did a lot of reckless things, but the best thing we ever did was start a band called Dropback. That band helped me grow as a musician, songwriter, and producer. Around the same time, I was invited to play at a church. Even though I didn’t yet fully believe in God, I loved gospel music and took the opportunity. Playing in church also led me to join another band, As of Today, where we played gigs all over downtown Savannah.
One of my bandmates, Deondre David, invited me to fill in at his church’s youth group, FUEL. That night changed my life. When I walked into the room after rehearsal, I was shocked to see so many people my age who were on fire for God. It was nothing like the small church I grew up in, where there were only about seven kids—two of them being my siblings. I kept playing for FUEL at The Sanctuary of Savannah, and one night, I stayed for the service. That’s when I truly encountered Jesus for myself and accepted His free gift of salvation. Since then, I’ve been on fire for the Lord.
A few years later, I started making TikToks about my faith. I didn’t expect them to blow up, but they did—consistently getting hundreds of thousands of views. I started leading TikTok live worship nights with thousands of people tuning in. Eventually, I committed fully to The Sanctuary, where I was hired as the Production Coordinator. Over time, the youth pastor transitioned to young adults ministry, and I stepped up to lead the youth group. After about a year, my pastor asked me if I wanted to become a pastor myself. After much thought and prayer, I accepted. On July 30, 2023, I was officially ordained as a pastor, and I now lead the youth ministry, YTH.
Through social media, I’ve had the privilege of reaching over 40 million views across platforms, growing my Instagram to 22K followers and TikTok to 67K. One of my covers, Most Beautiful / So In Love by Maverick City, even became a trending sound on TikTok, with over 30K people using it—many of their videos reaching over a million views. Because of this platform, I’ve had the honor of working with Maverick City Music, Bethel Music, Tribl, and many others. I also started releasing music! My top songs are “I Think We’re Gonna Make It” with my friend Ryah Johnson, “I’m sorry” with India Harden, & “I Would Do It Again”. I am hoping to release a worship EP in 2025.
Looking back, I know that none of this would have happened without God. I do all of this for Him, and I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities He’s given me to share His good news with the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. If anything, the struggles along the way have shaped me just as much as the victories.
One of the biggest challenges was figuring out who I was and what I truly believed. Growing up in a Christian household, I was surrounded by faith, but I didn’t fully believe in God for myself. I went through seasons of doubt, just going through the motions without any real connection to God. It wasn’t until I encountered Him personally at FUEL that everything changed.
Another challenge was school. I wasn’t the best student—not because I wasn’t capable, but because my focus was always elsewhere. Music, music production, filmmaking, and random creative activities took up most of my attention. While other kids were focused on academics, I was locked into my passions, constantly learning new skills outside of school. At the time, I didn’t see how it would all come together, but looking back, I realize that those “distractions” were actually shaping me for my calling.
Moving out at 17 was another huge turning point. I had a lot of freedom, and while I made some great memories with my best friend, Henry, I also made a lot of reckless choices. There were times when I felt completely lost, just coasting through life with no real direction. But in the midst of that, music became my anchor. Starting a band and producing music kept me connected to my creative passions, even when everything else felt uncertain.
Another struggle was stepping into leadership. When I first started playing at church, I wasn’t even fully sure about my own faith, let alone leading others. Then, as my platform on social media grew, I felt the pressure of having so many eyes on me. I had to learn how to navigate criticism, imposter syndrome, and the weight of responsibility that comes with influence. And when I was asked to become a pastor, that was a whole new level of responsibility—one that I didn’t take lightly.
There have also been moments of burnout. But the Bible tells us not to burn out—because if we do, we’re either forgetting why we’re doing it or we’re doing it for the wrong reasons. Jesus offers us living water so that we may never thirst again. My calling comes from Jesus, the living water—not from a well where I have to draw strength all on my own. That truth has kept me grounded through every season of struggle.
So no, the road hasn’t been smooth. But looking back, I wouldn’t change it. Every challenge has been part of the journey that led me to where I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear a lot of different hats, but at the core of everything I do, I’m a creative who loves using music and media to inspire and share the message of Jesus.
Right now, I’m a pastor and the youth leader at YTH at The Sanctuary of Savannah. I get to pour into the next generation, helping them grow in their faith and develop a real relationship with Jesus. But beyond that, I’m also a musician, music producer, content creator, and storyteller.
I specialize in worship music, music production, and creating engaging faith-based content on social media. I know how to use 4 different DAW’s (digital audio workstations) I specialize in Logic Pro, Ableton, FL Studio, and I dabble in a bit of ProTools. I also learned how to use the Lighting Console using Vista 3. I also became a live sound engineer. A live sound engineer controls the audio for live events, such as concerts, festivals, and theater productions.
I’m known for my worship covers, especially my version of Most Beautiful / So In Love by Maverick City Music, which unexpectedly went viral. Over 30,000 people have used that sound in their videos, and some of those videos have hit over a million views. Because of social media, I’ve had the opportunity to work with major worship collectives like Maverick City Music, Bethel Music, Tribl, and others.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just the numbers—it’s the impact. Seeing people encounter Jesus through a worship video, a live stream, or a moment at YTH is what makes all of this worth it. I’ve had people reach out, sharing how a single video or song led them back to God. That’s what keeps me going.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend creativity with authenticity. Whether it’s through music, production, or social media, I strive to create content that’s not just polished, but real—something that genuinely moves people. I also come from a unique background where my passion for filmmaking, music production, and even dance all come together in how I tell stories and lead worship.
At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to use every gift God has given me to point people back to Him. And I’m incredibly grateful for every opportunity I’ve had to do just that. I think that’s what sets me apart. The word “Holy” in the Bible means set apart. So without Jesus I wouldn’t be set apart. I would just be like everybody else.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned along the way is to do what you love. As simple as that. If you don’t have people that believe in you, you don’t need to. Because if you truly love it, you’ll do it whether if someone tells you to or not.
