Conversations with Kristal Lynch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristal Lynch.

Hi Kristal, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got started by simply being creative for my kids. For their birthday parties, I would make almost everything myself like invitations, décor, to themed treats and little details that matched the party theme. I would share it online, and people kept telling me I should turn it into a business, which led me to purchase my LLC and open a party décor business called Come Party With Us.

I purchased a vinyl cutter to assist with creating the products. While I was still learning and practicing with my equipment, COVID hit and parties stopped completely. My dad suggested I try making masks, and even though I didn’t know how to sew, he bought me my first sewing machine. I taught myself through YouTube and offered custom masks using the vinyl cutter I already had. A few months later, my cutter broke, and with replacements delayed, I researched other ways to serve my growing customer base. That’s when I discovered sublimation, fell in love with the process, and eventually shifted fully into custom apparel which is what brought me to where I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not! The biggest struggle was finding my niche. I knew I wanted to create custom products, but I wasn’t sure which ones would really take off. T-shirts ended up being the right fit, but with so many people making T-shirts, I had to figure out how to make mine stand out, to do something unique and personal that people couldn’t get anywhere else.

Another challenge was maintaining the equipment. Early on, using converted or lower-quality printers was risky. Machines would break down, slow everything down, and create stress when I had orders to fill. Over time, I learned the value of investing in quality equipment. That way, my workflow stays consistent, I can take on bigger projects, and I don’t have to worry about machines holding me back.

Those lessons, finding my niche and making smart investments, have been key to building my business the right way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create custom shirts, graduation merch, memorial keepsakes, banners, outdoor signage, and even design templates. But my biggest seller, and what I’m best known for, is 3D shirts.

I’m most proud of building a business from scratch and having a real customer base; people who use, enjoy, and wear my products.

What sets me apart is that I handle the entire process myself, from designing to printing and pressing. I don’t rely on a third party, so everything you see is completely made by me. I focus on making each piece unique and personal, and that hands on approach is what really makes my work stand out.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is our holiday traditions with my family. Especially Christmas, my dad made sure we always had a REAL Christmas tree and went all out with decorations and lights. Also our weekend movie nights, we’d get snacks and head to Blockbuster to pick out the latest release. My dad has since passed, so those times are even more special to me, and I still try to carry on the traditions with my own kids.
