The culinary world brought two visionary chefs together in a chance encounter that would change everything. For Chefs Rosie and Ashley, Blade and Board is a true labor of love, born from their shared passion for innovative cuisine.
Both chefs boast impressive backgrounds, with years of experience in the culinary industry. Chef Rosie, a Miami native, honed her skills in top-tier restaurants and resorts, becoming an Executive Chef at just 24 after graduating from Le Cordon Bleu. Her Puerto Rican heritage and meticulous attention to detail shine through in her stunning, mouth-watering creations.
Chef Ashley, hailing from Texas/Oklahoma, spent years as a private chef to renowned musicians, traveling the globe and discovering flavors from every corner. Her unique style blends international techniques and ingredients, pushing boundaries and challenging palates. For Ashley, every element serves a purpose, and finding perfect harmony is what fuels her passion for cooking.
Together, these two culinary artists bring their distinct visions to Blade and Board, crafting unforgettable experiences that delight and inspire.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Surprisingly, our journey has been remarkably smooth. We began modestly, offering charcuterie boards, but our customers’ enthusiasm and requests for more encouraged us to expand. As soon as people tasted our food, it seemed to ignite a sensation!
We gradually introduced classic Lowcountry boils and traditional seafood paellas, which paved the way for a full-fledged private chef and catering menu. We even added a to-go catering menu and vacation stock-up options to meet the growing demand.
We feel fortunate to have attracted such a loyal customer base and to have become so busy. It’s a testament to our passion for delivering exceptional cuisine and service.

We’re passionate chefs who cherish the unique connection food fosters between people. We believe that cuisine has the power to create lasting memories, evoke emotions, and even transport us back to special moments.
I recall a poignant instance where I prepared a chicken paella for a family, and the husband became emotional as he took his first bite. His wife explained that his grandmother, who had recently passed away, used to make that same dish for him. It was a powerful reminder of the impact food can have on our lives.
As a small, owner-operated business, my partner Ashley and I are deeply invested in every aspect of our work. We’re not just chefs; we’re also the driving force behind every event, ensuring that each guest receives top-tier service. We personally curate our serving staff to guarantee that only the most reliable, hospitable, and talented individuals are part of our team.

For me, what matters most is cooking from the heart and striving for perfection. As a chef, I believe that food should not only delight the palate but also come from a place of love and passion.
On a personal level, achieving work-life balance is paramount. This business has taught me the importance of prioritizing time with loved ones. In my previous corporate chef life, I often worked 60-70 hour weeks, missing precious moments with my children. Now, I’m grateful to have found a balance that allows me to pursue my culinary dreams while being present for those who matter most.
I firmly believe that with determination and self-belief, it’s possible to have it all. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! It’s about setting priorities, working hard, and staying true to yourself.
