Today we’d like to introduce you to Talia Quast.
Hi Talia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Ezri Art is a business that celebrates individuality and self-discovery through unique characters called Boobittles. Boobittles have diverse personalities and differences designed to celebrate you and your uniqueness’. Boobittles are characters I created when I was just 8 years old, and recently this year, I had reintroduced and expanded the idea. I created this idea when I was healing from my own mental health journey, and I hope to inspire others to heal and embrace themselves and who they are.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in life should be a smooth road; if it is, there is something wrong with the path you are going onto. I have started multiple businesses in the past; this is my third, and I have learned so many things from my journey. Getting my business out there has been a real struggle, and sometimes it’s very hard to not see any results at first. But results are like a plant growing; there are roots underneath the soil before they start to sprout above. If you don’t see any progress happening, it will only take time. I think anyone can succeed in anything they try if they only continue to fail to be able to succeed in the end.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am so proud to say that my business has finally combined all of my passions and interests into one. Ever since I was young, I have been known as being a “creative.” My mom is an artist, so she has raised my sisters and I to all follow in her artistic footsteps. We all started by painting and drawing and we would craft and build all of these different things. I picked up so many different creative hobbies growing up that I couldn’t even keep track. But now, I have something that I am so proud to call my own, and that will combine everything I love. I would say that something that sets me apart from others is definitely my story. I created my characters to each have a different story to tell. “The Boobittle’s” story is not one you would find just anywhere. The Boobittles are small white fluffy creatures that are here to promote self-acceptance and individuality. The Story of the Boobittles starts with the magical treehouse they all live in called Willowville. Before, the Boobittles were all identical, with nothing to set them apart. One day, one of the Boobittles fell out of the treehouse, and he decided to adventure into the unknown. When he came back from his exploration, he had dirt smeared all across his white fur. This caused all of the Boobittles to stare in shock. They had never experienced difference before. The adventurous Boobittle started to share his stories about his amazing journey. This caused all of the other Boobittles to be inspired to be different as well. This is when the Boobittles decided to go on their own path, they expanded their looks, personality traits, hobbies, and many more to make one another individual. This is why all of my characters have a special hat of theirs that you can attach and detach to show the transition from identical to individual. In today’s world, we are so focused on being someone we are not, fitting into new trends, and trying to be like anyone else. This is why I created my brand: to show people how important adventuring on from the treehouse is. I have created personality quizzes as well to show people the similarities that they might have with a particular Boobittle character, and some might add that it doesn’t fit exactly who they are, but that is the beauty of it. Everyone might have particular things in common, but no one should be exactly the same. Those small things that make someone different should be taught to be embraced to the world, not hidden behind the scenes. My brand’s idea is definitely created from my struggles, and I am happy to say that my struggles have now turned into something I can enjoy now and overcome. I hope that someday my brand’s idea to help others be okay with being themselves and to stand out will one day help others around me as much as it did for me.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
The past 2 years, I have struggled a lot with my mental health. I was diagnosed with an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa, and it had come with many other complications as well. This was something that was difficult for many friends, family, and myself. In January 2023, I was finally admitted into treatment, and I was on my road for recovery. During treatment, I picked up a hobby of crocheting, and I used this as a coping mechanism to help deal with anxiety, and I quickly started to love it. This is when I started developing the characters I had made from when I was younger, and this gave me something to distract my mind from. This is also when I decided to expand my idea to not only just make characters to help and distract myself but I decided to promote individuality and self-confidence to help others who might be struggling. A term many people will hear is that “recovery is never linear,” so of course, I have my struggles and slips at times, but to me, it is so important to be a good role model to inspire others to heal as well.
