Conversations with Ticauda Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ticauda Coleman.

Hi Ticauda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Thanks to the pandemic, I was moved to birth Nails by Pynk. I remember I had a nail appointment scheduled in March of 2020 and it had to be canceled due to safety concerns. I thought it was the end of the world because of my passion for nail art and my ability to express myself through it.

Long story short, a few people were telling me to look into making press-on nails. I attended “YouTube University” and after several months of watching hundreds of hours of videos and reading nail articles, I made the first set that I was proud to wear.

With my nails being a personal billboard, several people asked if I could make custom press-on sets for them and I obliged. I also dabbled in acrylic nails and surprisingly it was not my lane. Fast forward about nine months: I learned about gel extensions.

With gel extensions, there are no harsh chemical smells, and very little dust is produced during the process. This made gel extensions a better option for me because I work from home. Now, I am almost one and a half years in. Being completely self-taught, I can say that I absolutely love what I do and it shows through my work.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, the road has actually been pretty smooth. I believe this is because creating nails is like therapy for me. Servicing my clients is my downtime.

I can sit in peace and listen to music, watch tv, or simply chat about any and everything. Once I finish a set and my client is happy, that makes me happy. Mission accomplished!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Ticauda Coleman aka Pynk and I am a self-taught nail enthusiast and the creator of Nails by Pynk. Even though I am proud of many accomplishments throughout my journey, I am most proud of being featured in Tainted Magazine’s December 2021 article, “Emerald Arguelles and the Dynasty of Ghetto Fabulous” by Shannon Permenter.

I will never forget the day that it was released, I was getting tagged on social media like crazy and I was like “What’s going on?” To my surprise, I had been featured in a magazine! I was ecstatic because my following on social media is “small” and even though I knew the set was made for a model, I didn’t know they were going to be in a magazine. The model, Nelly, absolutely rocked the nails.

The photographer, Emerald Arguelles, killed the shoot and captured my vision through her lens. Me, being a small-town girl from Ozark, Alabama having her work be featured in a magazine… not once but twice now thanks to Voyage Savannah. I am very excited to experience this feeling all over again.

I am so blessed and honored. Thank you.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is the overall health of a client’s nails. Not only do I enjoy creating and designing nails, but I also care for the natural nail before anything else.

I actually care about who’s in my chair no matter if they return or not. Healthy natural nails are always the goal!
