Daily Inspiration: Meet Adrian Carey of A Splash of Paint by Adrian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Carey.

Hi Adrian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I always was big on skincare even as a child. I use to read the magazine called Seventeen when I was a teenager, and one day I read an article on how bad beauty products are on the skin and the toxins in the ingredients.

I started researching the best products for your skin and came across a forum on the internet from women who promote natural skincare products and most of the ingredients were already in my refrigerator. Many years went by, and I would make my products for my skincare needs. Back in 2018, I decided to become a Makeup Artist and I started to notice that some women would tell me they were so ashamed of their skin without makeup.

That made me feel compelled to share my secrets on the particular issue they were having. When they would come back, they will tell me that they tried so many expensive products that still didn’t work, but my remedies did the trick. At that moment, I knew what I was called to do. I was called to make natural skin care products and share them with the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to my success hasn’t been easy. The products stood on their own, and that has been easy. My repeat customers gave me the confidence I need to know that my products work. But, learning the business side was a bit of a struggle. Build a website or not, pay social media sites for features or not? Pay to promote on search engines or not? Set up pop-up shops or not? The first year of my business Facebook friends, family, and co-workers was my clientele.

But, honestly, even though I am forever grateful for them, that will only get you so far. So, you always have to stay relevant, and in the world where social media have thousands of people promoting the same thing you are, it was hard not to feel like a small fish in a big ocean. So, being overwhelmed was an understatement. I knew I had years put into making my products and perfecting the formula, but how can I expand and prove that my products stand up against the big guys?

Over time I noticed that if I continue to advertise, believe in myself, and put myself out there, no matter which route I take, it will continue to grow. I didn’t care if my business grew fast or slow, I was just happy it was growing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My Organic Skincare Line serves also as holistic medicine. I am so proud of the pain relief side of my business. People with neuropathy pain (Healing Bath Salts), Eczema and Psoriasis(Healing Body Butters), sunburns, body burns (Cooling Serums) really feel relief after trying my products. In my short-term goal, I plan on introducing more all-natural medical needs products.

My best-selling product since day one is the face scrubs, I have even been called the scrub lady before. This product has triple components that give glowing, youthful, and scar-reducing skin. This product will replace multiple skincare products in any household.

The one thing that sets my products apart, is the love and prayer I put into each container that’s mailed out. My products are truly handmade with love.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I have been in Savannah for the majority of my life, and I love the fact that it has a small-town feel, however, it’s also the 5th largest city in Georgia. I love the live Oak trees that shade most streets in Savannah, and the closeness to the beach.

The downtown area and all it’s historic. My city has it all! The only thing I do not love about the city is the humid heat, but the beach makes up for this. Overall, I love being a Savannahian and will probably stay for the remainder of my life.
