Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Tootle.
Hi Alyssa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi there! I’m Alyssa Rae Tootle, a natural light photographer with a creative/versatile edge, and proud owner of A.R.T Photography.
I was born and raised in Statesboro, Georgia, where I developed a passion for photography and art at a young age. My passion was most certainly picked up from my mother, who has forever had a camera out anywhere we went. Day trips to Savannah, hanging out in the backyard, she had it, no matter what.
I remember being gifted my first “point and shoot” by her at the age of 12, from then on, I was constantly looking for an adventure any and everywhere, no matter the distance. I especially loved those gorgeous places that were overlooked by the normal eye. I’m talking abandoned buildings, grungey alleyways, fields, random hole-in-the-wall places, you name it. If it had an edge to it, it just spoke to me. It still does.
From bartending, to being a server, to working side jobs, I have always just loved to be surrounded by people and meet new faces! As I grew older, I just knew capturing memories for people is what I was born to do. I have always loved being able to capture the raw, real moments of the beauty that surrounds us and I truly thrive on candids and raw emotions.
All of the rest of life aside- I guess you can say that I bloomed where I was planted.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In a short, no road I have ever traveled has been totally smooth. I am a huge believer in “everything happens for a reason”. Whether I hit a bump, a curb, or a whole crater in the road, I knew they all served a purpose.
They all sculpted me into who I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a natural light, Statesboro-based photographer who is always down to travel and up for anything “out of the norm”. I put a piece of my heart and soul into all that I do.
While I LOVE shooting families, maternity, couples, and elopements, I am most known for my “styled shoots” whether they’re a solo model or a sweet couple. I thrive on my creative shoots. I’m the “let’s meet up at this parking garage and pop the champagne & have a picnic or meet outside of this planet fitness for you and your S/O to have pizza” type of girl.
I think what sets me apart from a lot of other photographers is my style- as every client I shoot is different, my goal is to always shoot in a way that meets each individual’s vibe! I don’t always stick to one type of lighting scenario, though I do have my favorite times of the day that I like to shoot- I am always up for anything.
