Daily Inspiration: Meet Ce’Zanne Collins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ce’Zanne Collins.

Hi Ce’Zanne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My mother named me after her favorite watercolor painter, Paul Cezanne. When I was younger, my mother would take my brother and me to museums to see his work. The trips would inspire me to paint every day to establish a unique style sensational enough to be in halls like Paul Cezanne.

I remember returning to school and attending art classes to learn about traditional painting in those following weeks. Warm and cool colors and blocking shapes became a new obsession. Before school, I’d practice painting my favorite parts from films such as “Do the right thing” by Spike Lee. After school, I sketched ladies in music that rocked and inspired me, such as Misty Copeland and Willow Smith. I moved to Georgia to pursue my career in the arts in 2015. I’ve created digital paintings of composers like Andre 3000, Ma Rainey, and many more while making a home here.

When the pandemic began, I’d research color psychology. Experimenting with different palettes was a satisfying way of working through the lockdown. In times of calamity, creating was therapy for me. Like my mother, I believe that art can spark hope during challenging times. I started Ce’Zanne Unique in 2020 as a platform to showcase my artwork and create opportunities for myself in the film, media, and design industries.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My path hasn’t been easy. Growing pains and distractions kept me from being motivated to accomplish my goals. I’ve had to learn to be patient and consistent with myself to overcome my challenges,

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a traditional and digital artist. My traditional specialties are gouache, watercolor painting, and Charcoal and color pencil drawings. My digital specialties are paintings, animation, and design.

What sets me apart from others is that I use my projects as postcards to my inner child. I only work on projects my younger self would be proud of.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Many people know I love music, but not much may know that I’ve always wanted to direct and animate a music video. People might not also know that I began promoting my artwork by sketching guests at Atlanta house parties. My favorite part of the night was always showing the personas I’d create from the attendee at the end of the night. Music and dance are a major part of my creative process.
