Daily Inspiration: Meet Chloe Shrader

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Shrader

Hi Chloe, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I like to think my artistic story started as soon as I could hold a crayon, but the reality is I was inspired and nurtured into being an artist. My strongest influencers are my grandmother and the teachers and professors who believed in me along the way. I think the other motivator I had along the way was the passion I have for illustrating and sharing stories with others. I got to where I am today by truly believing in the magic of art because believing is really half the battle.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say anyone’s journey is necessarily smooth, but I can say some have more bumps than others. I’d say the biggest obstacle I had to overcome was losing belief in myself. I think the artistic journey is just that, a journey, and at some point, you lose sight of the vision you set out on, and that vision has to be adjusted. While being an artist is certainly fun, I definitely think it is not for the faint of heart.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an illustrator striving to break into the world of visual development and book illustration. However, I like to specialize my pieces in a place of nostalgia and a breeze of magic. I’m most proud of how far my work has gotten since starting school; all the work I’ve been able to produce and be proud of has been a real feat. I think I’m set apart by my passion for what I do and the bits of myself I put into my work.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’d say that when networking, you can’t be afraid to be yourself. You have to fight the urge to blend into the walls. Also, being excited to meet people and remembering their names is the biggest “tactic” that has worked for me!
