Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Daley.
Christine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Almost five years ago, a dear friend was pregnant with her second child and was getting nauseous around food. She asked if I would come over and stock her fridge with some delicious options to reheat. That was the birth of Daley Delivery. I started cooking for families, singles, and everyone in-between soon after that.
Then, when living back home with my mom who was losing her fight to cancer in CT, I decided to start a branch in my hometown. Now we have a Daley Delivery in Park City, Fairfield County, Los Angeles and now we have just launched in Savannah!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Of course not. So many mistakes were made at the beginning. Truthfully, I still make some now, BUT the great news about the mistakes is that it often forces you to step back and look at the business with fresh eyes. It’s in those moments that I have found truly my greatest shifts and growth in the business.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Every week, I create a menu with various seasonal, healthy but delicious recipes ranging from vegan to meat options for roughly four nights of food. There are plans for one or two adults and we also create kids menus and special menus for those who have allergies or restrictive diets. Then, each brilliant chef in our various locations shops, preps, cooks and delivers to our client’s doors. New menus come out on Wednesdays, orders in by Saturdays, we prep on Monday, and delivery Tuesdays.
We stand out as different for many reasons, but I’m very proud that we try to save clients money and time, while also reducing waste. We also stock your fridge with various options of “family style” packaging. This means that we don’t pre-package what you’re going to pair everything with. Instead, it’s all in your fridge for you to eat how and when you want.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I feel very lucky. I feel like I was lucky that my mom loved to cook and although she’s passed now, I get to honor her by doing something she loved and taught me to do. I spent so much time with her in the kitchen; laughing, eating, learning. I’m so lucky for that time and inheriting her love for food and the beauty of feeding others. I feel so lucky to now be serving clients in Savannah.
Chef Jordan Peagler and I have been friends for years and I’m honored and feel lucky that she understands the goals of DD and wanted to join the team. She understands sustainable, seasonal, organic, fresh food and reducing waste not only by using compostable containers but also mindful shopping, so we don’t throw out produce after cook day!
