Today we’d like to introduce you to Ilana Green.
Hi Ilana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Ilana Green and I founded Pawsitively Delicious because of my love for cooking and my love for dogs. I do just about everything with my pups. I wanted my dogs to enjoy my cooking but in a safe way.
Everyone loves their dogs, I mean they aren’t called man’s best friend for nothing. Many times, our delicious human treats are not dog friendly and can make them very sick. Making it difficult to have them enjoy our delicious snacks. Pawsitively Delicious specializes in making dog-friendly treats that are inspired by some of our favorite snacks!
Not to mention all my hand-made treats have organic ingredients, giving your pups the best of both worlds. Everything down to the packaging of products makes it feel your pup is having their own bakery experience for their enjoyment.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I started with the idea of Pawsitively Delicious in 2019, but between a minor health obstacle and the beginning of the pandemic, I did not sell a single item until 2021 after moving to Savannah, GA.
Shortly after submitting my application for my LLC, I began the process of donating my kidney to a close family friend. Following the recovery, the pandemic shut down the world. I took that time to organize and think through my vision of Pawsitively Delicious. In 2021, I really began getting out to events and selling my treats.
I think some people would have given up after not having sales for over a year’s time, but every day, I kept in mind it isn’t always about the sales but more about making a positive impact on the people I come in contact with.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Pawsitively Delicious promotes all things positivity. We want to create a pawsitive experience for both our two and four-legged friends. In any event, I attend my goal is to spread love and bring joy to as many people and pups as I can through my products and interactions.
You never know what people are going through and if I can turn someone’s day around by a small interaction that is exactly what I will do every time. With that being said, each order is delivered with a note spreading positivity. This can be a positive quote made to make you smile, or one of our favorite pup puns.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
As mentioned previously, I’ve learned that compassion goes a long way. You never know what people are going through and at Pawsitively Delicious we pride ourselves on spreading positivity in any way we can.
More than just value our customers, I’ve also learned a great deal about business management. Being patient and persistent is key, starting a business in the midst of a pandemic after moving to a brand new city usually isn’t something people advise doing. However, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made.
When you find something you love doing, that’s the easy part. But continuing to pour into your dream even during the slow times and despite the odds really teaches you how to persevere. It also makes the feeling of beginning to succeed so much greater. Celebrating every win after such hard work is an amazing feeling.
