Daily Inspiration: Meet Kenya Usher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Usher.

Hi Kenya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was interested in videography and photography in high school, but I did not take it seriously until 2021. In late 2021 I decided to take a jump into the deep with videography and photography. This allow me to explore so many places around Atlanta, and it also got me excited to find a niche that I could grow into. While working a day-to-day job, I quickly realize I want to be on vacation every day! So, I said to myself, why not take your videography journey on the road and visit places in and outside of the United States, and Passport Titans was born. I have two trips coming up, and my goal is to capture the beauty of these places; hopefully, through my content, I inspire people to get out and travel. My journey into videography and photography has had many uphill battles, but there is beauty in the struggle! My consistency and the hours spent on YouTube University got me where I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My entrepreneurial journey has not been easy. As mentioned before, there is beauty in the struggle! I remember trying to decide which brand to go with (Nikon, Canon, Sony) and then trying to narrow that down to one particular camera. I had to switch the camera dial from Auto mode to Manual mode and learn how to use my camera and be in control. I had to do things like go to networking events, pass out business cards, and create a website. All of these things are intimidating when you have to do this all on your own with no guidance. Nevertheless, I persevered and learn how to use my camera to its full bandwidth to create stunning travel videos. Traveling is a passion for me, and I like to learn about other cultures, listen to different music, and try new foods. Because of music, food, and culture, it made those intimidating things worth going through. My biggest struggle was, and still is, is gaining a consistent clientele. As the years go by, I’m pretty sure I will gain popularity with clients as I continue publishing content for Passport Titans.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
By day I work in IT, and by night I am a videographer. Videography is something that has taken off pretty quickly for me due to its high demand. I specialize in events and travel content. Passport Titans is a movement that inspires others and opens people’s eyes to traveling more. I chose to make travel content my niche because I don’t know many people around me that take the time to explore the places they are visiting. Typically, we go to places and do the typical tourist things. We may record a few things on our phones and have a nice gallery of images and videos to share with family and friends. Passport Travel is different because we break down the places we go, the people we meet, and the things that we do in documentary form. I’m still in the early stages of my videography career, so I am not sure if I am known for anything just yet, but hopefully, Passport Titans is what I will be known for! I am most proud of myself; each day, I amaze myself with the growth I have seen. A couple of years ago, I didn’t approach strangers, and now I am approaching strangers and letting them know that I have a business. What sets me apart is that I am a female videographer. Something new I am looking to get into is music videos and film. Videography and photography are still seen as male-dominated industries. Lately, there has been an uptick in women photographers, and I’m proud to be a part of the growing number of women in videography and photography.
