Today we’d like to introduce you to Kween PrezSure.
Hi Kween, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my business a year ago, after being back home from my home in Miami, Florida for over 4 years. First and foremost, I myself can and used to rap and was in the music industry, I was a part of a group I won’t speak on but we had a manager and we were out there doing shows and tours and something happened where my manager was extradited back to Jamaica.
So, therefore, after settling down, getting married, and having a child I felt as though I was too old to be on the scene in that manner.
Don’t get me wrong, music is my dream and I still wanted a hand in it, so I sat down and I thought I know so much why not be an industry manager. My thoughts of just being a manager became bigger when I started speaking of it and my two artists came to me and his words were “ Kuzz, I don’t really wanna sign nobody else deals, but I’ll sign your paperwork and only yours!”
And to me, that was a loyalty, I saw in someone to at believed in me more than I myself. Grindhard Tezzy, even though he is my artist I look at him as an in a way to be my business partner when it comes to him, versus my other 6 artists in my roster Parlaa R.O.L.A, Barry Whiteowl, Sha Butta, YN HEFE, Gutta Smoove, and Lull Pretty all natives of Savannah, Parlaa being from Hinesville and Lull pretty being from South Carolina. These are all my artists, artists managed by me, and my company PrezSure Musik Management LLC, an independent media management agency that caters to independent artists.
I was born and raised in Savannah, GA, right at the memorial hospital. Unlike some residents, I was just blessed enough to be able to see the world at an early age. I’ve stayed in Charlotte, North Carolina, spent my high school years there! It wasn’t until the moment I felt as though my thoughts were bigger than Savannah and the goals and dreams I had, is when I left, I moved to Miami Florida in 2003, I had family there that I wasn’t aware of, but I moved there and I took Miami by storm until I ended up going to prison but that story is for another interview, another time and topic!
But it was at that very moment 6 months into my sentence that I realized I could rap and I was a beast at it. And if I used my story to that I had to tell into my melody then my music would definitely go somewhere, but my story was too hard to be coming from a female and that was the majority of the feedback I got, except the question behind it would always be… “how? When you barely look a day over 10 years under your age?” Upon moving back to Savannah Ga in 2015, I merely went to every open mic that was had scouting without anyone knowing, people have mistaken me for a model, a video girl, even a dancer because of my natural frame. But I was none of it.
Those people that did approach me on those business ventures found out that I was more than just a pretty face, that I was a female Beast when it came to Business. Leadership skills are something I have always carried with me and believe it or not that skill has landed me a managerial position in every job I have ever had. My technical skills are even stronger and they get stronger annually because yearly I’m always teaching myself something new about the industry. I also attend Phoenix University for my Master’s in Business Management as we speak.
I’m also a mom of a 10-year-old little entrepreneur who also has 2 of her own businesses up and in effect as well as a T-shirt line she just developed and dropped last month. Everything I do dream and goal wise I always put her thoughts and decisions first and what it can cost me as a parent because I wouldn’t pray to have any other kid outside of the one I was blessed with. Her decisions growing up in life makes me proud and remind me why I have to keep making the best decisions in life for us because she is literally watching me and my growth.
Music’s my heart, it’s my soul, it’s a breath of fresh air for me. I can wake up jamming music, I can fall asleep listening to music. I use to have people ask me why do I smile so much, “Like you always happy for no reason” and I would simply say “ music” and shrug my shoulders because typically it was. Music Carrie’s me throughout my day in positivity.
I do this because the ones I watch and want to succeed has shown me a sense of loyalty to believe that not only can I take my company to the top, but they believe in me enough to feel that I can also take them to the top because I have something a lot of managers don’t have… Dedication instead of working for a dollar.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles come in every camp if you want your entire team to succeed and all be at one level together.
My biggest struggles might be feeling like I’m on repeat when I have to constantly keep preaching on something and no one wants to get it until they see it mainstream on IG or FB or TRILLA or Even TikTok these days, and then it’s like “ Maaaaan, I gotta start!” And now I’m looking, start what? Something I told you to start 6 months ago?
So that is my main frustration and struggle the majority of the time. Because believe it or not my artist they’ve all built a family vibe. And that is also something else that makes me proud of what I have going on.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the CEO and president of one of the futures’ top most prestigious media management companies to come. PREZSURE MUSIK MANAGEMENT LLC, an independent media company that caters to the independent artist. I specialize in, industry management, music management, public relations, hosting, promotion, and artist development, as well as business management.
I’m known for being the manager of Grindhard Tezzy or Barry Whiteowl. My proudest moments are at my monthly meetings, studio sessions, or when I’m seeing my artist on stage out of the state of Georgia. Seeing each and every one of their growth from where they start with me is the greatest feeling to any industry manager.
The one thing that sets me apart from others is that I’m not in this for the money and each and every one of my artists will tell you that.
Nor am I in it for the fame. I really support everything I have going on because I didn’t put together my team overnight.
What matters most to you?
The thing that matters the most to me is always praising my ancestors because without them a lot of the blessings I receive on earth would dare be possible. Two my daughter, because she is my world, heart, pride, and joy. Three each and every one of my artists and how I support them and how they support me and themselves.
How I represent them and my brand and how they represent themselves, my brand, and their brand.
