Today, we’d like to introduce you to Maddy Miller.
Hi Maddy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved creating, and art has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember!
When applying to colleges, I knew I wanted to major in art, and while at SCAD, I discovered their Fibers major. Learning to design textiles was a great experience, and I am so grateful for my time there. I started Cheeky as a way for me to express my creativity and share how I see the world!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been very lucky to have a relatively smooth road! The hardest part for me was taking the leap of faith to put myself out there and try this. I am still learning as I go, but if you keep working at it, everything will fall into place with time!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Painting and drawing have been a huge part of my life. I was very fortunate to have grown up traveling the world with my parents and I have been so inspired by the textures, colors and patterns seen along the way. I love bright colors and am particularly drawn to tropical landscapes.
I have been able to take my love of drawing and translate that into a collection of scarves. I love the ability to wear my art and have others see it. Over the years, I have been working on defining my style and am very proud of how this has developed. I am not afraid of bright colors and bold lines!
Who else deserves credit for your story?
My parents are my biggest cheerleaders, and I would not be here without them!! They have always supported me every step of the way and encouraged me to find something I love and stick with it.
They currently live on a sailboat and getting to visit them always gives me so much inspiration! Having their encouragement has always been a source of motivation for me.
