My name is Mariah, owner & founder of Blissful Beauty.
The concept of Blissful Beauty Salon & Spa has been a dream I’ve been manifesting for many years, and I want to introduce myself!
I’m a Michigan native and grew up in a small country town. While I loved growing up there, I always knew I wanted a more extensive community where my business could thrive. I also realized I needed more sunny, warm days (Michigan winters drag on FOREVER). I am destined for the South and LOVE where I landed, here on Hilton Head Island.
Since I was little, beauty has been my passion, but I never imagined it could be a career and that I would have my very own hair salon! Initially, I had a path set to attend Douglas J Aveda for Cosmetology school and get my license, then have a salon room out of my house and do hair with also going back to school to become a nurse or radiologist and continue doing friends and families hair. Thankfully the medical field didn’t pan out, because being in the beauty industry full time is where I am meant to be. Everything happens for a reason!
I did follow through with attending Douglas J Aveda and realized it was my calling to be in this industry fully. During this time, my obsession with vision boards started, and I made my dream a reality. Opening Blissful Beauty has been front and center for eight years now, and as everyone states, their business is like their child; mine definitely is, and I am so proud of it and myself.
After school I landed at a salon near my hometown being able to learn so much about the process of building a clientele, opening a salon and the things that come with it, after that salon I ultimately ended up at another salon back in my hometown. There, I made lifelong friendships and really got to learn and grow in the industry. I wish that whole team of girls was here with me now…
Opportunities popped up that I jumped on, and I was able to invest in my education. Traveling nationwide, I attended certifications for eyelash extensions and lash lift & tint. Additionally, I obtained certifications for hair extensions, as well as indulged in classes about balayage techniques, blonding, all-over enhancing color, and various methods of cutting techniques. My ultimate goal is to always be “in the know” with the beauty industry so I can perfect any new process or technology. Making clients feel beautiful and confident is of utmost importance to me!
While seizing any opportunity to perfect my craft, I became a Lash Instructor. Empowering other beauty professionals has become something I’m very passionate about, and I host classes as often as possible. Courses I host include Lash Lift & Tint, Brow Laminations, Classic Lash Extensions, and Safety Protocols & Industry Trends.
Needing a change of scenery and to be out of the cold I started to research where my industry did best resulting in Dallas, Texas or Scottsdale, Arizona. I had trips booked to both areas to check it out to potentially live there and I also had a trip before visiting my Dad in Georgia. When visiting he took me to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for a beach day then said it was where I am going to move too, and work and I proceeded to get 3 Job offers. Ever since I have moved here my life has simple been a dream and everything, I could imagine falling into place simply has. I am so blessed and grateful for all of the opportunities sent my way.
I’m thankful to have you be a part of the beginning of this incredible journey of opening Blissful Beauty. I take pride in creating a welcoming environment for both guests and colleagues as I have put my heart and soul into this beautiful space. I feel so at ease and light here at Blissful Beauty. I will go to any length to have our clients leave the chair feeling beautiful, confident, and radiant. It is so important to me to be here to help my community and spread all the positivity and self-confidence.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey to where I am today wasn’t easy — it was full of late nights, long hours, and moments of doubt. Growing up in a small town, I didn’t come from money or connections. I was working three jobs just to make ends meet, trying to save every penny to invest in my education and future. Financially, it was tough — I didn’t have the credit history or backing to qualify for loans or grants, and most people didn’t take me seriously. Let’s be honest, being a young blonde with big dreams often meant I had to prove myself ten times harder.
But instead of letting that discourage me, it fueled me. Every “no” or “you cant do that” pushed me to find another way. I poured everything I had into classes, certifications, and travel to learn from the best in the beauty industry. When I made the decision to pack up and move across the country, I left everything familiar behind — family, friends, and clients — to start fresh and rebuild from the ground up.
Building a brand-new clientele in a new state was challenging, especially in a place where no one knew me yet. It took determination, consistency, and faith to keep showing up every single day. From learning local trends to finding reliable contractors and suppliers, every step came with lessons.
Despite all the challenges — financial struggles, being underestimated, and having to constantly prove myself — I never lost sight of my vision. I stayed true to my passion, trusted the process, and worked relentlessly to turn my dream into Blissful Beauty Salon & Spa. Every obstacle shaped me into the strong, resilient businesswoman I am today.

At Blissful Beauty Salon & Spa, I specialize in lash extensions, hand-tied hair extensions, and all things blonding — it’s where my creativity and passion truly come to life. I love the transformation process, whether it’s enhancing someone’s lashes for that effortless everyday confidence or creating bright, dimensional color and seamless extensions that make my clients feel like the best version of themselves.
Beyond being behind the chair, one of my greatest joys is being an employer and mentor. I take so much pride in leading a team of talented artists and helping them see their worth — not just in their craft, but as individuals. Watching my team grow, gain confidence, and fall in love with what they do reminds me why I started Blissful Beauty in the first place.
What sets me apart is the heart behind it all. I truly love the deep connections I form with my clients — the laughs, the real talks, and those heartfelt moments that only your hairstylist or lash artist ever gets to hear. There’s a special kind of trust in that bond, and it’s one of my favorite parts of what I do.
Blissful Beauty was built with both artistry and heart. Every service, every class, and every conversation is rooted in passion and purpose. My mission is to make Blissful Beauty a space where women — both clients and stylists — feel empowered, inspired, and confident in their own beauty and potential.
